Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?
Yes. I got my bachelors from Duquesne in 2008. I actually tried to revitalize the student section when I attended. I had no clue about Duquesne basketball when I went (or the A10), but I knew I loved college hoops because I started watching Penn State in high school during the Crispin Brother NCAA tournament days. When I went to my first game I felt shocked by the lack of student attendance considering the Dukes were a division 1 program. From that day forward I rarely missed a game. I sat in the lobbies of dorm rooms and tried to get students interested. I wrote the constitution for the Red and Blue Crew (ahem, I might have based it upon the Red Scare one), and tried my hardest to get the student body to care.
My entire day can fluctuate depending on a Dukes hoops result. It's almost like a disease. That said, I love them. I'm also ashamed to admit that I'm getting my Masters from Pitt. However, I don't mind Pitt for football. |

Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?
Simms...why the heck would you admit on a public message board you're getting your Master's from Pitt? It's suicidal on our message boards, don't you know!
Yes, I did go to DU. BS in Math, MS in Computational Math. Also, Simms did more for DU's fan support than anyone I've seen in the last 10 years. A heartfelt thanks Simms! (Hope all is well!) |

Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?
I was a walkon basketball player at UD and I am a midget. I played a ton of minutes and did the halftime show on a unicycle. I would ride around in circles as my dog would jump through a flaming hoop. These were some of the best days of my life.

Made it kind of clear in some other threads, but yeah I attended UMass.
Did the 5 year undergrad thing (what 2 years of being an undeclared major gets you) and graduated in 09' |

No for me. I have loved Xavier since Lenny beown took down uc when i was 9 and have been a huge fan ever since. I graduated from duke but have difficulty being a true fan. It's like rooting for the Yankees for me.

Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?
Yes, just recently graduated this summer. However, I started causally following the Niners in '98 because I grew up a Tar Heel fan and watching that 2nd round NCAA tournament double overtime game between the Niners and Tar Heels got me intrigued about the university an hour away. It wasn't till I got to school and attended midnight madness (seeing a monster in Curtis Withers) that I got hooked on Niner Basketball. I now hate the tar heels, and the only other team I root for (with the exception of conference mates) is Gardner Webb, due to the school being 10 minutes away from where I grew up.
Not too many "casual" Niner fans left who didn't at least attend our university at one point. I think it's okay to be a fan of a team from another university, as long as you don't put that team before your alma mater's. Just my 2 cents. Last edited by Ninerballin; 11-30-2012 at 05:30 PM. |
