Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?
Funny story.
Went to Cincinnati, but did not graduate from there. Graduated from Northern Kentucky University, but I am a huge X fan. Why? Well, my dad went to X, his two brothers went to X, and his three sisters went to X. Plus, my brother went to X. Loved the Gardens and now love the Cintas Center.

Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?
Wow, I am surprised. I thought I was in a very tiny minority here as I did not go to the school I root for here. I come by my allegiance naturally as I grew up just outside of Olean and had season tickets in my high school years, which just happened to mostly coincide with Mr. Lanier's time at Bona. I do have two sisters that did attend Bona though; one who graduated in 1971 and another who spent two years at Bona a decade before(coinciding with the Messieurs Stith) before transferring. The '60-'61 team, ending up #3 in the final national rankings, also partied at my house that year. At least several team members present were disturbed by the fact my father provided only beer, and not liquor (both legal at the time, by the way, and not even against team rules, IIRC). I was only six, so my memory of events was limited by an early bedtime. I have been told, however, that I did meet 1st team All-American Tom Stith and future NBA player Freddie Crawford.

Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?
Wow, I'm really surprised that most of the people who have responded in this thread didn't go to the school that they support. That's pretty awesome. I thought the fans on this site were mostly current students or alumnus. Fun thread though. As for me, I went to Temple for 4 years and graduated in May of this year. I'll have season tickets this year and can't wait for the season to begin.

Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?
I got both my BS and MEd from Xavier. I was a fan of the Muskies long before I decided to attend college there. Since XU is located in Cincinnati, a suburb of Mt. Healthy, Ohio where I grew up, it was an easy choice. Also, the grade school that I attended used Musketeers as the name for its athletic teams back then.
(I used "a suburb of Mt. Healthy" as a follow-up to the question of one Bonas fan to another asking in what suburb of Olean he lived. That's almost as good as me asking a fellow Mt. Healthy native in what time zone he lived!)

I just want the team I support to be in a stronger conference. I'd prefer it to be a stronger A-10! To me that would mean every member would have at least 2 trips to the NCAA Tourney and 5 winning seasons during each 10-year cycle. It would also be great for every program to seriously challenge for a league title (either regular season or Tourney) at least once during that same period of time. |

Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?
Graduated from Charlotte in 09.
I never really got into the 49ers until I decided to go to school there. I never really heard about them (despite growing up in the Charlotte area). It's a damn shame too because they had some quality teams in the 90's and first half of the 2000's. My loyalty has been rewarded with mediocrity the last 6 years.
