another dooley era spider here minus tarrant's last season. an era of bands like Dave Matthews (overrated imo but blasphemous thing to say in Richmond) and Hootie & Blowfish right b4 they got national playing regularly in the case of Dave at the epic since deceased Floodzone. agree it is a bit remarkable there are so many of us from Doooley era. the lowlight/highlight was the "you can't see Dick" Papparo no call on Mike Hodges in CAA tourney. Hodges was up in AC for A10 tourney this year btw. while I went to most games in college I think my fandom came on strong during beilein's great first season in 98 when I followed closely (which basically meant following scores on bottom line & going to richmond times dispatch online for most part since it was pre-message boards until I randomly stumbled upon rivals maybe a year later?). That year we won CAA tourney and beat South Carolina in 1st rd a game I attended. The fanaticism seems to only have incrementally increased every year since.

Boy O Boy at the Floodzone was just an awesome time. The band was never the same though when the horn/rhythm section changed. I think they might be called Fighting Gravity now.

3rd generation Billikens fan. Attended my first game at 2 months of age. My father readily would plan vacations and weekend trips around Billiken road games as a child. From the age of 5 till I was 18 I missed only 2 home games. Have seen the Billikens call 5 different venues home & seen them play in 4 different conferences. Decided to go the state college route but never finished. Now at 32 taking online classes at SLU.

I graduated from X in the late '70's, towards the end of what we call the dark ages of basketball. Took a lot to follow those teams, yet we had a ball. Considered both UD and SLU among other schools outside the A10 (of course X wasn't in any conference back then).

I'm actually surprised how many here didn't go to the school they root for. I expect that at big name BCS schools, but I'm impressed about fans who would root for an A--10 team where they didn't go.

Earlier in this thread, I said that I support Xavier even though I went to college and grad school in New England (where I grew up) because I am on the faculty at Xavier, and have been for nearly thirty years. I also taught Snipe back when he was a pup.

Xavier always goes to the NCAA tournament, and almost always makes some noise while there. Projecting anything less than that this season feels like folly.
