Well done good sir! We were there when the Big 8 was still the Big 8, before Phil Mickleson started pimping for them and while a little known firm by the name of Arthur Anderson was still one of the eight. Speaking of Enron, can you imagine having made partner at AA only to be taken down by a few idiots in your firm who lost their ethical compasses?

I went through 4 years of Xavier pursuing an Accounting degree, thinking I had to go the public accounting route when I got out. I didn't know it was possible to hate auditing that much.

If I may ask a tag-a-long question here: how many of us were bartenders while in school? I ask that because being a bartender almost enables you to get the equivalent of a sociology degree - stand behind the bar sober and watch all the entertainment as the night stumbles on.

FQ, if you want to discuss this, start an OT thread and have at it. In fact, I'll even contribute. I started to respond to your arguments twice and then hit the back button because I don't think this is the place for it.

Xavier 01, middle class with a full ride, but wouldn't have happened if my parents didn't shell out cash for a richie expensive high school.

I do think its much easier to get a merit scholarship with all the help that a good high school with great counselors, SAT tutoring, grade inflation, honors classes, etc provides.

Dayton '93. Barely cared about basketball until I got student season tickets my senior year. After graduation, didn't care much at all again until early 00's. Season tickets for last 6 years or so.

I moved all of the politics stuff to a new thread. Have fun just don't start calling each other names. If you can't have a civil conversation about it, don't have one.

Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?

I got my BS from Rhode Island out of high school and got hooked on Rhody Hoops as I finished up my studies.

Strangely, Lamar Odom was playing during my Freshman year and I didn't have any interest at the time.

Yes.

I had the privilege of enjoying four great years at UD in the 1970's and earned a University of Dayton diploma.

I'm a third-generation Flyer and third-generation UD basketball fan who started attending Dayton Flyers games during the 1965-66 season.

I did not attend UD.

I became a fan during the 98-99 season and had loosely followed them for a couple of years prior to that.

My first ever UD game was the upset win in Cincy over UK.

Nope.

Grew up in the South Dayton 'burbs. My grandfather went to UD and even played on the freshmen team back in the 50s.

I attended UD games while still in the womb in the 84-85 season, and have been to games every season since.

I don't need a piece of paper to tell me I have a deep connection to UD hoops.

Yes.

Dad was a UD prof, out of 8 kids 7 of us went to UD. And 6 of us married UD grads.

Years ago we were featured as the ultimate UD family in the Dayton Daily News during homecoming week.

University of Dayton's Engineering School offered my family and I a deal we could not refuse.

I attended UD during the Roosevelt Chapman years.

I attended the University of Michigan for Grad School, but by the time I made it to Ann Arbor, I was hooked on Flyer Basketball.

Nope.

I went to Dayton's 'Harvard by the Highway' (Wright State University). Graduated in 2007.

As a Miami alumnus, I'm very glad that we ditched the Redskins nickname.

. . . and for those of you who were not already aware, Gormin71 is a Xavier fan impersonating a Dayton Flyers fan.

Gormin71 displays a Dayton Flyers avatar, but he never posts on the MB after a Dayton Flyers win and rarely has anything good to say about the Flyers.

Gormin71 is quick to attack real Dayton fans and quick to defend Xavier on the MB. He uses the same terms as Xavier fans.

Below are Gormin71's recent posts:

Which UD posters are cheering Muddy on? I only see the so-called Triumvirate cheering him on.

I surely haven't cheered him on. Nor have I seen Adam, Flyer75, or bpritchard cheering him on.

And most people know the so-called Triumvirate are just trolls and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Don't blindly believe what Muddy is trolling, but you over do it on purpose.

Yes, Muddy instigates and you fall for it. Muddy puts a small twig in the fire, you drop 4 tons of wood onto the fire, trying to catch Muddy before he runs away. (During a losing streak, usually ...)

I'm curious to see how X goes this year.

I'm sad to see Lyons and Wells both gone, as I wanted to see them take the team on their backs, like Xavier leaders before them have.

But, the other players can now step up, get playing time, and win one for the Muskies.

Re: Did You Go to the School You Support?

The Sad Truths of Internet Trolls:

Trolls are immune to criticism and logical arguments. True trolls cannot be reasoned with, regardless of how sound your logical argument is.
Trolls do not feel remorse like you and me. They have sociopathic tendencies, and accordingly, they delight in other people having hurt feelings.
Trolls consider themselves separate from the social order.
Trolls do not abide by etiquette or the rules of common courtesy.
Trolls consider themselves above social responsibility.
Trolls gain energy by you insulting them.
Trolls gain energy when you get angry.
The only way to deal with a troll is to ignore him, or take away his ability to post online.

How Should I Deal With Internet Trolls?

You cannot win with a troll. Publicly retaliating against them just fuels their childish need for attention. There are only 3 reliable ways to deal with trolls, all of which focus on removing their audience, removing their power, and depriving them of the attention they seek.

Woo hoo! I'd like to thank the Acadamy! And all my adoring fans! I have now been labeled a Xavier fan because I use the "same terms" as Xavier fans. Awesome!

Of course, Muddy missed these posts:

From an overall athletic perspective, Dayton seems to hold its own within the A10.

But then, Muddy, you've probably already placed me on ignore. Oh, and you must be a Xavier fan too, then, since you are using the "same terms" as me when I say, "Muddy, Back on Topic", just like you regularly tell people.

Oh, and the UD Women's Volleyball team will win both the A10 regular season crown, and the A10 tournament crown this year. And if Krabacher can get her act together, she could be A10 POY again.

But, once again, I went to The University of Dayton and graduated in 1993. (and I haven't been sent a sweater vest yet, but did buy an NIT Championship tshirt.)

Nice try Gormin71, but no cigar.

You've been "outed", and there's no going back.
