We were there when the Big 8 was still the Big 8, before Phil Mickleson started pimping for them and while a little known firm by the name of Arthur Anderson was still one of the eight. I went through 4 years of Xavier pursuing an Accounting degree, thinking I had to go the public accounting route when I got out. I didn't know it was possible to hate auditing that much.

If I may ask a tag-a-long question here: how many of us were bartenders while in school? I ask that because being a bartender almost enables you to get the equivalent of a sociology degree - stand behind the bar sober and watch all the entertainment as the night stumbles on.

Xavier 01, middle class with a full ride, but wouldn't have happened if my parents didn't shell out cash for a richie expensive high school.

I do think its much easier to get a merit scholarship with all the help that a good high school with great counselors, SAT tutoring, grade inflation, honors classes, etc provides.

Dayton '93. Barely cared about basketball until I got student season tickets my senior year. After graduation, didn't care much at all again until early 00's. Season tickets for last 6 years or so.

I got my BS from Rhode Island out of high school and got hooked on Rhody Hoops as I finished up my studies.

Strangely, Lamar Odom was playing during my Freshman year and I didn't have any interest at the time.

I had the privilege of enjoying four great years at UD in the 1970's and earned a University of Dayton diploma.

I'm a third-generation Flyer and third-generation UD basketball fan who started attending Dayton Flyers games during the 1965-66 season.

I did not attend UD.

I became a fan during the 98-99 season and had loosely followed them for a couple of years prior to that.

My first ever UD game was the upset win in Cincy over UK.

Grew up in the South Dayton 'burbs. My grandfather went to UD and even played on the freshmen team back in the 50s.

I attended UD games while still in the womb in the 84-85 season, and have been to games every season since.

I don't need a piece of paper to tell me I have a deep connection to UD hoops.

Dad was a UD prof, out of 8 kids 7 of us went to UD. And 6 of us married UD grads.

Years ago we were featured as the ultimate UD family in the Dayton Daily News during homecoming week.

I'm curious to see how X goes this year.

I'm sad to see Lyons and Wells both gone, as I wanted to see them take the team on their backs, like Xavier leaders before them have.

But, the other players can now step up, get playing time, and win one for the Muskies.
