Re: 2/18 A-10 Games
Very interested to see how GW does against St. Joe's. Generally, when GW has had a big game that they should be up for, they have struggled (but have done well when there are zero expectations -- like vs. Temple and Xavier).
Like St. Joe's, GW is playing well right now. They are coming off a road win at Richmond and a game where they dominated Temple for 34 minutes, until Tony Taylor fouled out and GW collapsed. That said, this is a tough matchup for GW. Physical guards like Galloway have been a problem for GW, as have physical forwards like Kancevic. On the other side, St. Joe's will have to work hard to keep Tony Taylor and Lasan Kromah out of the lane, and either shadow Mikic relentlessly or just hope he has an off shooting night. I wouldn't be surprised if GW wins -- or if they lay a complete egg.

Re: 2/18 A-10 Games
Brown Indians/Rhode Island is the 2nd game of a doubleheader. The 22nd ranked Brown Squaws host Xavier on national TV (CBS Sports Network) at 2pm. Then, they pack up the cameras before the men welcome home Jimmy Baron, and we get to tune into SBUTV on our computers. Official word is that the Reilly Center is sold out for Senior Day for both squads.

Re: 2/18 A-10 Games
If X, Temple and Umass win tomorrow we will finally have a lead group for the bye round. Dayton and the Dukes have a head to head so one of them has no chance of sneaking back into the bye conversation, and likely would not have been able to anyway. I have a feeling hta X and Umass are going to have the same outcome - so X better root for a Umass win.

Re: 2/18 A-10 Games
Both UMass and La Salle had a week to prepare - I'm not really sure it would favor one team over the other. UMass hasn't lost a league game at home, but La Salle and Xavier will both test them.
Even Saint Louis couldn't win up there - it'll be tough. |

Re: 2/18 A-10 Games
I feel much better about the LaSalle game than I do X. The Umass fans are worried about them running out of gas as the end of the season approaches. They play fast and they are down two bodies from their original rotation so this week off was perfect timing. Then X comes in and it is a day early (Tuesday) - if there is going to be signs of fatigue, then I would think we will start to see it against them?
Steve I didn't say Umass will win, I said if they win, they are in position to be a bye team. And Umass has not lost at home to anyone, not just in conference.

Re: 2/18 A-10 Games
let's call a spade a spade, la salle is the only team in your top 4.
fact is we've been doubted all year and if 1 of 2 end of game possessions at uri go our way, umass would be in second place with a tie breaker over slu and a game at temple to determine the conference championship. we're going 4-1 to finish the season, you can bank on that.

Re: 2/18 A-10 Games
The spread on the Saint Louis game is ridiculous. 22?

I don't follow women's basketball, but your post sparked some curiosity: Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Standings (Atlantic 10) 1. St. Bonaventure ... 24-2 (11-0) 14. Rhode Island ...... 1-25 (0-11) Not a good season for the Rams' basketball fans.

Re: 2/18 A-10 Games
I don't think many people realize how high St. Louis has been ranked all year in the various power rankings. For example, they are currently 10th in Pomeroy, ahead of Georgetown and Duke. They are also 12th in Sagarin's Predictor and 17th in Massey. Sagarin's numbers would have them giving 25.5 today.
So 22 is more than understandable. |

Re: 2/18 A-10 Games
Any spread over 20 catches my eye.
