Flyer fans, what do you expect the lineup to be next year (knowing it's awfully early)? Will they go to a 3-guard lineup and start Sibert, Sanford, and Price?
It's a good problem to have, trying to find slots for Sibert, Sanford, Pierre, and Oliver. I definitely think Price starts unless one of the freshmen guards just light it up all summer and fall.

My best guess is:

Price
Sanford
Pierre
Robinson
Scott

I think Archie has found Oliver's spot, the 6th man. Sibert probably starts out coming off the bench, but he could play his way into Sanford's starting spot. Scoochie Smith or Kyle Davis could well unseat Price, but it's way too early for that talk. Based on his play, Price has to be seen as the starter in November until we're told otherwise. Good defense, he doesn't turn the ball over, and he can hit the open shot. That's what you want, no Dillard type will be needed. This team will score, they need a game manager, and that's Price.

I've really grown to appreciate Price. He does not score much or even try to score much, but he does everything you want from a pg, including playing very solid defense and hitting the long ball when left open.

Not trolling at all, but this sounds A LOT like London Warren. Would you be happy with a London Warren 2.0?

That did sound a lot like London Warren, but Price is already a far better shooter than he ever was. I definitely don't want another game manager in that mold.

Re: 2012-2013 Dayton Flyers

London was an outstanding on ball defender, I'm not sure that Price can be as good defensively. London was quicker than price, much quicker if my memory serves me correctly. London was better at finishing around the rim, they seem about the same hight, even body build, but London had some pretty decent hops, that I don't see in Price's game. Price is a much better outside shooter, I had no idea what to expect, he's a little slow getting it off, but if given space or enough time to shot, he'll hit a good percentage from outside. He appears to be at worst a competent free throw shooter, something London never sniffed.

Frankly, other than body size/type, I don't see much similarity in their game at all, they kind of polar opposites. If you're playing a half court game, you'd take price in a heart beat. If you're in transition, you'd take London by a ton. Since most of the game is played in half court sets, it seems like Price could have more impact for the flyers than London. London was underrated in regard to his knowledge of the game. BG had a lot of low basketball IQ players, it amazed me how many times London had to yell at Marcus or other flyers to get them in proper position before they could run a set. I don't know if Price has that in him or not, I'll assume (or perhaps hope) that as a PG that is just natural, but time will tell.

W/ either the A-10 tourney at the Barclay's the next 4 years (assuming they can even make it this season), or the Big East championship at the Garden in 2 years, hopefully Price realizes that as a basketball player he doesn't have to visit a women of the night while in the city

There is nothing wrong with having a PG that doesn't score a lot. Some of the best PGs in the game have average at best points per game. If they make everyone else around them better, they have done their job.

One thing that is not debatable, is that Miller will have more line-up options next year and certainly more depth at the guard spots. I doubt the three guards on the court will be a staple, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it sometimes. Like alot of teams featuring young players, I would expect the team to be more formidable as the season goes along.

Re: 2012-2013 Dayton Flyers

Never confuse "Doesn't score much" with "can't score".

London Warren couldn't score away from the dorms. Khari Price is a good shooter, and he's already made some big shots (Murray State and Charlotte are the most memorable, even the FTs against Richmond). I suspect he can score in different ways, and we will see that more as his career progresses. Price also rarely turns the ball over, something London did in bunches for much of his career.

I liked London, he was a quality PG for his particular team, but I think Price will be a significantly better player.

Khari Price has made 16 3s this year. London took 15 3s in his career. Nuff said.

and if the story is correct, he sometimes needed cash even to score at the dorms!

I'm really just kidding here. I liked London Warren in many ways, but I really think Price will be the ideal PG for UD next year. As other have pointed out, he might do his job, if he only scores 4 pts a game. The Flyers definitely have scoring options, he needs to facilitate. That said, the major difference is that he CAN score (or should I say shoot), where London could not. You can't leave Price alone, like you could leave Warren alone.

Re: 2012-2013 Dayton Flyers

The only problem I ever had with London was his inability to keep a defense honest by hitting 3's or anything outside of a lay-up. Otherwise, he excelled in the open floor, defense, rebounding, etc. But having a pg who cannot hit a 3 is a bad, bad thing. His defense was the best we have seen from a UD guard since Alex Robertson, so that helped make up for a lot.
