Re: Help Wanted -- Duquesne

Not sure if Kelsey was really in the running, but he's out now. Pat Kelsey will take over at Winthrop.

Not the best Xs and Os guy, but I am one hell of a motivator.

I would have the Mighty Dukes ruling the city of Pittsburgh.

Now THAT is funny. Is this legit? Must be the Northeastern connection...

Re: Help Wanted -- Duquesne

He has a friend somewhere that is getting his name associated with the job in order to help him find something. When I first read ramMan's post I thought K-State was short for Kalamazoo State.

Would've been an excellent pick.

Keith Dambrot turns down a fair and competitive offer from Duquesne to stay with the alma mater from his hometown, which I can respect. I think Dambrot would have been excellent hire for Duquesne but it is not to be. Looks like it is Orlando Antigua's job to lose per the rumblings from the Final Four.

Re: Help Wanted -- Duquesne

7 years 650k with incentives up to 800k
Total value up to 5.6 million.
Its got to be hard to turn down that kind of cash! This kind of money should get an attractive candidate though.

Latest news:

Chas Wolfe‏ @ highmajorscoop
Names for Duquesne:

Jeff Boals,Mike Rhoades, Al Skinner, Keno Davis, Darrin Horn, Steve Roccaforte, Orlando Antigua, Andy Toole & Mike Dunlap

Duquesne has spoken to Indiana (Pa.) head coach Joe Lombardi about their coaching vacancy.

I'm told IUP's Lombardi has had preliminary talks with Duquesne. Not a formal interview/offer. But Amodio reached out to him re: opening.

No way this guy is a serious candidate. Assistant coach? Maybe. Head coach to take Duquesne to the next level? I dont think so....

But, on second look he has had a long career as an assistant at many schools including Pitt, St. Bonaventure, and La Salle. Any opinions from you guys?

Wiki on Lombardi

He has also led Indiana University of Pennsylvania to 33-3 and 26-6 records the past two years. Including a trip to the NCAA Div II championship last year and a deep run in the tournament this year as well.

Best of all we was named NCAA Div II Coach of the Year in 2010.

Told big turnoff for coaches w/ Duquesne job is AD Amodio's seeming insistence to next hire they keep holdover Jason Byrd as dir of ops.

Ray Goss Interview about coaching vacancy among other things. Great listen.

Re: Help Wanted -- Duquesne

Lombardi's name got floated when Schmidt got hired, or maybe when he didn't immediately win 25 games. He was an assistant during some of the Jim Baron years. Not exactly a young up and comer. His daughter goes to Bonas currently.

You can take Keno Davis off the list. He is the new coach at Central Michigan.

Re: Help Wanted -- Duquesne

My guess is a 800k base with incentives up to 1 mil could get it done.

Not sure I want a guy who really doesn't want the job, and takes it only for the money.

Re: Help Wanted -- Duquesne

I can agree with that. Perhaps he wants the job but thinks he is worth more than the offer after his success at Akron.
