Would be interesting. Doubt he goes. RT @LakenLitman: Hearing a new name associated with #SMU hoops coaching search in Rick Majerus. Ben Weixlmann @BWeixScout Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Not saying Majerus to SMU is a 100% "No", but he's been approached several times about other jobs. He truly enjoys #SLU.

Re: Majerus to SMU?
It looks like the time to find out just how much RM likes/loves St. Louis, doesn't it?
From the Dallas Morning News SMU sets sights on St. Louis' Rick Majerus in coaching search By Kate Hairopoulos / Reporter khairopoulos@dallasnews.com | Bio 9:56 PM on Tue., Apr. 10, 2012 | Permalink SMU is willing to pay $2 million a year to lure St. Louis coach Rick Majerus to rebuild its men's basketball program, according to a source. Internet reports first linked SMU and Majerus earlier Tuesday. Majerus, 64, has led three different schools to 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, including leading the Billikens to the third round this season by defeating Memphis. Majerus is 95-69 in five seasons at SLU, which hadn't made the NCAA Tournament since 2000. He led Utah to the national title game in the 1997-1998 season and has never had a losing season. Majerus also took Ball State to the NCAA Tournament in 1989, following a brief stint as an assistant coach for the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks under former Mavericks coach Don Nelson. SMU has been looking for a new coach since it fired Matt Doherty on March 13 after six seasons. The search has dragged on as SMU pursued high-profile coaches such as Marquette's Buzz Williams and Long Beach State's Dan Monson, but missed. In addition for his coaching prowess, Majerus is known for having a big personalilty, living in hotels and has previously overcome health issues. Orsini hasn't commented on SMU's search since releasing a statement when Doherty was fired. SMU is trying to show a new commitment to basketball with a move to the Big East looming in 2013.

Re: Majerus to SMU?
That would sting the Bills at this point in the recruiting period. I'd bet Majerus stays. If he's 64, happy, and making solid money at SLU, why leave? Ride it out a few more years and retire.

Re: Majerus to SMU?
It seems that Majerus has finally got over the hump at SLU, probably would have last year if Mitchell and Reed could have played. Hard to believe that he would jump ship now and take on a re-building project. Though money talks, and I believe his mom passed away so he may not have the same restrictions as before.

Re: Majerus to SMU?
SMU is willing to throw $2 million at a basketball coach? Wow. Guess we aren't far from re-living the Pony Express Death Penalty days again.

Re: Majerus to SMU?
See below...
From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (10:25am today): SLU grants Majerus permission to talk to SMU SLU athletics director Chris May said Wednesday that the school has given basketball coach Rick Majerus permission to talk to SMU about the vacant position there. "He asked for and was granted permission to speak (to them)," May said. The Dallas Morning News reported that, according to a source, SMU is willing to pay $2 million a year to Majerus as the school looks to rebuild its basketball program after firing Matt Doherty on March 13. The school has looked at some big names, including Buzz Williams of Marquette and Don Monson of Long Beach State. A $2 million salary would more than double Majerus' pay at SLU. I like Majerus, but he'd be the most overpaid guy since Jon Koncak!

Re: Majerus to SMU?
If you're his age, and somebody is crazy enough to offer you $2 million a year to coach...you'd be crazy not to take it.
