Re: NCAA Championship for Umass in 2013-2014?
I would think that after they win it all next year, the entire team will move up to the NBA as an expansion team.

Re: NCAA Championship for Umass in 2013-2014?
As I see it, only 5 of our players have legit NBA potential. Jesse Morgan due to his streaky shooting and tenacious defense. Maxie Esho due to his offensive ability and the energy and athleticism he brings to the court. Cady Lalanne due to his size, offensive ability, shot blocking, and rebounding. Raphiael Putney due to his offensive ability, shot blocking, and athleticism. And then Chaz Williams, well Chaz is the complete package as a point guard. He has everything you could want in a player.
If I were a betting man I would bet that 3 of them make the NBA. Those three would be Chaz, Lalanne, and Putney. This team is just stacked.

These pre-season championship declarations are absolutely worthless without reams and reams of meaningless high school statistics. Get with the program.

Has Lalane even played a game for the Minutemen? If not, where can I find his HS stats, preferably the one game three years ago where his team played against the team of another future A-10 player and won?

Re: NCAA Championship for Umass in 2013-2014?
Yes he has. He played 10 or so games in the non-con last year. Had very good stats in limited minutes. Had he played the entire season, then UMass would have surely won the A-10 championship. We better hope he's fully recovered for next year. If not, then we may have to settle for a Sweet 16.

Moved smartly into the "if that basket had gone in" offense territory with this gem. Congrats. BTW, why do all you guys have a "z" in your names? I'm sure that's some old thing that has escaped me.

Re: NCAA Championship for Umass in 2013-2014?
After lurking on this forum for a year, I created this account to say this. As a die hard umass fan, having attended every home game and tournament game in the past 7 years and having followed the team long prior, I have never been more excited by the direction Of the program. After ford left I was unsure about the future of the team, however CURRENTLY I am feeling great about this group and the future.
That said. There are a handful of posters who do NOT represent what a level headed, thinking fan is thinking. We are dealing with fanboys and yahoos, and I would hate to have people lump the Umass community in with them when having in depth hoop talk. GO UMASS! Ignore the crazies. - sent from my phone under my desk at work, forgive spelling if its atrocious. |

Umass will be better next year - but I am not even sure what that means yet. As I understand all of these conference changes, the A-14 is still exactly what it was last year. That said, Xavier looks like it may be a little down from their norm for a year, St Joe's and St Louis look to be as good or better and I hope that Umass is in the mix for the top spot. Honestly, I am not sure what to make of Temple next year - not yet anyway. As of today - I think St Joe's will be the class of the league with Umass and St Louis a close second.
