Re: NCAA Championship for Umass in 2013-2014?
I'm not sure that was worth posting twice.
But you need to correct your signature line so that it is accurate. All you need is an * in the right place, and under that another * with the notation "vacated."

We also decree that all opposing freshmen, henceforth, must be educated ahead of time on the 14-hour bus trip (amid tumultuous blizzards, of course) from the Buffalo airport to SBU... if only to avoid blindsided losses.

Re: NCAA Championship for Umass in 2013-2014?
This was on ESPN chat Wrap today with Eamonn Brennan:
Dan Smith (MA) So, UMass returns all except their center (Sean Carter) They have signed two solid 2-3 star big men and have Derrick Gordon eligible in two years. Is this the start of a couple year UMass run? Eamonn Brennan (2:51 PM) UMass isn't going to take the country by storm, but no question they're on the way up. I'd put them at a half-step below the top end of the A-10 in the coming years, but with plenty of room for variance depending on how they improve. That's a solid team, which is not something UMass fans have had the luxury to say all that often lately.

Re: NCAA Championship for Umass in 2013-2014?
while not of twister and z-8's mindset, i have to take issue with the phrase "la salle wiped the floor with umass" 2 single digit wins does not equal wiping of any sort.
bremann is dead on with his assessment. we're excited in amherst, when was the last time that could be said? that's a big enough thing for me to get excited about. the thing z-8 and twister seem to forget is that teams add quality players every year and no one here has any idea what teams are going to look like 2 years from now in the aten, much less the country.

Re: NCAA Championship for Umass in 2013-2014?
In my discussions with Knobby, I'm not saying UMass isn't going to be a force to be reckoned with...but again, as I've said to him before, why do you think that UMass is going to be that much better then UD in the next few years. Even X fans know UD landed a much better coach (as it appears) then we had before. UMass returns everyone and UD is making upgrades at 4 of the 5 players we are replacing off a team that beat UMass by 33 points (and oh ya, we add Benson back to the lineup). We still have the one PG in the league that is in Williams's league. Again, IF UMass is to be considered in the A10 title talk, UD certainly has to be also, yet Knobby thinks UD is going to finish 6th or worse next year while UMass runs away with this thing. The argument makes zero sense.
I'm not hanging a preseason banner. I'm just saying, if UMass is that good, UD could be too. The only player of significance that we lose is Chris Johnson (an honorable mention player). It's not even arguable that next year's UD team is deeper and has more talent then last years. |
