re: 2012/13 Rankings, Including Bracketology
UMass is by no means a shoo in for #1. St. Joes is more talented than they are and Saint Louis is far better coached. Going to the semis of the NIT doesn't exactly mean they're going to be world beaters
Disagree with you Dan unfortunately. The cupboard at Duquesne is almost completely bare. Don't know about the recruits but Sean Johnson is the only player on the roster who one could objectively consider a good A10 player. Don't think VCU will finish 1st, especially not without Burgess. They will have a tough time matching the physicality of hte league game in and game out. People forget how much better the A10 was than the CAA last year(and every year). LaSalle beat Drexel and Duquesne beat Mason! That tells you the difference in leagues. |

Vee Sanford, the Georgetown transfer, averaged 1.83 points per game in two years at Georgetown. I find it hard to believe he is going ot step in and make up for CJ's production. Regardless, I do agree Dayton will finish around 5-6 in the league.

I feel VCU will trip up a few times in the smaller venues of the A-10. Takes a while to get used to winning at SBU, SJU, Fordham etc.

People are going to underrate us for what we lose, but fail to factor in what we gain. We return Scootie Randall from injury. We gain Dalton Pepper after sitting out his transfer year. We have a fantastic class coming in, with SG Quenton DeCosey, top 150 forward Daniel Dingle, and C Devontae Watson, only the second player in HS basketball history to register 1,000 points, rebounds, and blocks. We have Will Cummings, who didn't even play much last year. Our issue is going to be size, but we have a ton of depth overall.

re: 2012/13 Rankings, Including Bracketology
I'm not sure how good of a measurement that is. Mason beat us on a buzzer beater in Fairfax but then we beat them like a drum at home and beat them convincingly in the CAA tourney. Drexel beat us in the DAC by like 4 when we went 9 of 20 something on FTs. We beat them in the rematch at RC. We put a whooping on Richmond last year in Siegel Center. GSU beat us in our only home conference loss but we beat them in Atlanta shortly after. All I'm saying is one game is not a good measurement of a team's or league's strength. Our 2010 CBI championship team went 5-0 against the A10. Does that mean the CAA(or should I say VCU) was better than the A10 that year? Keep in mind VCU,ODU, and GMU(The Big 3 as they called it in the CAA) over recent years did very well head to head against the A10. I don't believe VCU finishes first but VCU is very capable finishing high. The CAA had it's up and down years but that hardly affected VCU's progress.

re: 2012/13 Rankings, Including Bracketology
Richmond is tough to place because even though we didn't lose much (Garrett was a non-factor on offense, and Martel and Duinker never really reached their potential), we are still EXTREMELY young. Darien Brother is our only Senior who gave us significant production (Greg Robbins is more of a glue guy). We were able to redshirt three of our freshman, so while they should be ready physically, they haven't see any game action. I think it's fair to say that Richmond at this point has the widest ranges of possibilities in the conference (I could see anywhere from 10 to 3).

And you forgot yet another player that in his last 8-10 games put almost identical numbers to the mighty Dez Wells. Ive not even mentioned incoming freshmen yet. Maybe just maybe players improve under Archie unlike they did under Gregory. This team will start 3 seniors, a 4th year junior and a 3rd year soph. Last edited by Flyer75; 05-15-2012 at 03:37 PM. |

Xavier has the best group of kids coming in next year. X doesn't rebuild. X reloads
