Do they even have televisions in Dayton? I thought they still listened to games on the radio.

That's not a logical conclusion at all. In fact, it's the opposite of logic.

ESPN can put anyone else on TV and the Dayton market watches. They don't need to schedule Dayton to get the market. Hence ESPN puts other teams on to get their markets to watch with the Dayton viewers.

I believe Mayberry RFD and The Waltons are still the top shows in Dayton. Beaver was a close third due to high sweatervest usage in the shows.

Thus, the reason the premium forums charge for info.

But then it's nice to get the info free the next day from you. Saves all the UD fans some money.

Exactly....the Dayton market for basketball viewing has little in relation to UD basketball itself. Not sure why that is so hard to figure out.

Except those links aren't premium info....those are links to any info that anyone can go see for themselves. Those are floating around on multiple message boards, some premium, some aren't.

Re: ESPN’s Top 10 Markets for College Hoops in 2011-12

It's not even about scheduling Dayton more, because Dayton games would have no bearing whatsoever on ESPN's numbers in Dayton. ESPN broadcasts hundreds of games. This number is essentially the average of every game. If, say, Dayton were bumped from 4 ESPN games to 10, the average wouldn't even go up one-tenth of a point.

Dayton is one of the best college basketball markets in the country because we love all college basketball. It's also a great HS hoops area, with many gyms packed every Tuesday and Friday. We could just as easily be watching the NBA or NHL. This is a college hoops town, and not just because of the devoted UD following.

Well...that actually makes sense when you think about it.

So the Red and Blue Premium forum (8.33 a month) quoted by Muddy is actually free. Who knew.
