Can Butler win the A10 this year? Yes

Will Butler win the A10 this year? Probably not

Butler had to rebuild last year following early NBA departures of would-be seniors Shelvin Mack and Gordon Hayward, and the result was quite an abhorration to watch. Basically, you had a bunch of guys who could drive, but couldn't shoot - and I mean historically bad free throw and field goal shooting. In fact, bottom 3 in the nation in 3 point shooting. So after a few games Butler was an easy scout; sag and double team all post entries, foul at will.

This year? Butler only loses one senior who actually played (PG Ronald Nored, captain of the terrible shooters). Butler gains senior transfer Rotnei Clarke (via Arkansas), who was 2nd team all-SEC as a junior and led the nation in 3pt shooting the majority of that season. They also gain consensus top-100 recruit Kellen Dunham, who led Indiana in scoring and shot 45% from the arc as a senior.

The problem? No proven point guard to take over for Nored. What's the point in adding shooters if you can't get them the ball?

Can they win? Sure but I don't think its probable. What does strike me though is that the A-10 will have a number of good teams, and that with a few exceptions as competitive within conference as any conference. 'Upsets' won't really be that surprising.

That's offensive. How can you talk about our program like that? It was really only at the start of the Kellogg years that that statement was valid. And even then, we had Ricky Harris and Anthony Gurley, two players that could certainly shoot a basketball.

Depends on how well they do in the OOC and postseason. If they make the national semifinals again, not a big deal.

Its not Hofstra. Butler is pretty good, I don't think it would be a surprise to see them win.

I'm a supporter of communist ideology, and I felt the need to change my avatar, so I chose Stalin. Nothing wrong with that. He also was not a murderer. He did rule his people with iron fist, easy manipulating them and having too much control, but it didn't go any farther than that. You might be confused with Hitler in this case...
