It goes 33.33% VCU, 33.33% UMass, and 33.33% SLU. No one else stands a chance. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

Re: Can Butler Win the Atlantic 10 in its First Season?

Butler, VCU, UMass, SLU, St. Joes, Temple, Xavier.

I could see any of those teams winning it. I think Temple and Especially X will both be down, but until it is pulled from their cold bloody hands I leave them in the discussion.

Wow what a league this will be.

In addition to those teams Dayton, Richmond, and GW will be pretty good. SB will win some on positive experience. Only Duquesne looks to go from respectable to bad.

This from a guy with a Kim Jong Il avatar. Offensive enough by itself, but then he posts this worthless drivel.

I think the prime contenders next year are Temple, X, SLU, UMass, and Butler. I don't think in the end that Butler will win simply because a Horizon League schedule is not the same as going through an A-10 schedule. And the sheer number of upper echelon teams in the conference hurt their chances to win the conference tournament. Can they win? Sure. But I'd think somewhere around 12-1 odds.

Are we talking regular season or conference tournament?

In the first ESPN preseason poll, VCU was the only A10 member listed. They are now just outside as the first one not listed to be considered. I think it's reasonable to expect they will contend.

This is your "preseason" conference championship being discussed. You know the answer to that question I'm sure.

Then clearly Dayton is the favorite, followed closely by UMass and then La Salle (pending refs).

Well I'm glad I saved the keystrokes then.

Kidding aside, when I looked at the question "Can Butler win the Atlantic 10 in its First Season?" I thought it unlikely that they will win the regular season, but that they were 1 of about 8 teams that could make a run in the conference tournament and win that.
