Oh look, JHG did it again! I'm no troll, I'm just stating my honest opinion. I do think the team will benefit from not having to rely on one player who I don't think is ready for that role (as not many college players are). That's not being a troll, that's being logical.

Actually, UMass was the 8 seed in the A10 tournament and I wouldn't say a few wins in the NIT qualified them as playing "better than almost every team by the end of the year".
Can we quit it with the 8 seed BS? UMass finished with the 3rd best overall record and was listed 5th on the official conference rankings numerous times. You see when teams are all tied in conference record, it gets decided by overall record after that, not some silly 4-way tiebreakers. Sorry.

Ok, let's just throw out the NIT. Forget about it. No team in the A-10 in the A-10 was playing better than UMass, except for your very own St. Bonaventure. We ran into the one team better than us at that point. That was really the A-10 championship. Temple choked, Xavier was reeling (admit it, they backed into the tourney), and St. Louis was playing solid ball. You can make a case that they were better ball than us too,but nobody else.

UMass will surely be elite for years to come.

Re: Wyatt arrested

I am cool with saying UMass will be strong next season, but using such definitive and strong language in doing so is a bit much. Pretty much the only givens in this league have been the success of X and Temple. Everything else can break a lot of ways. No doubt that the Minutemen have promise, though.

As for getting back on track, I really hope Wyatt isn't suspended too long. As others have said, this sounds like a victimless crime. The bad part is Wyatt's poor representation of his school. For that alone, it would seem The Mustache will pop him a bit.

Re: Wyatt arrested

I still think we will have a solid team without Khalif but it does lose a lot of it's punch. I don't know what my thoughts are as to whether he should be allowed back or not. Really will depend on these next few months.

It's a good time for Temple to leave the Atlantic 10. Chaney's goons, and now this embarrassing episode.

No sympathy for those who solicit prostitutes.
Sucks for Temple's season, hope they throw the book at the 28 people wrapped up in it.

Re: Wyatt arrested

Living in Nevada where prostitution is mostly legal I of course have a different view but it's a crime where he did it and I am always under the opinion it doesn't matter my view on it, if it's a crime and you know it's a crime then you must pay for that.

I really don't get this. Muddy is obnoxious, delusional, instigates crap, and tries to get a rise out of other fans. I try to state my opinion and all get is backlash from angry Temple fans. I'm not flat out dissing Temple (like Muddy did in his above post), in fact I'm actually arguing that Temple will be better than before. Why would Temple fans get angry at my honest opinion, especially when it's favoring their chances?

Also anyone like Muddy suggesting that this is a bad reflection upon the university doesn't know what they're talking about. The actions that Wyatt committed occurred off campus. The school shouldn't be responsible to ensure that everyone doesn't commit crimes when they're back home. Say a kid from Oregon goes to visit his family there during time off. He solicits a prostitute there and gets arrested. Is it the university's fault that their student has no responsibility for themselves? Gimme a break.. They cannot police everything.. Also, we act like every little news story like this is bad publicity for the university. That's false, any publicity is good publicity. Most people forget, and the rest don't care. And then there's always Muddy...

It doesn't matter where you commit a crime – you are still a representative of your university. There were 28 people arrested in AC, but we only know about one. Why? Because he is a public figure – whether he likes it or not. He put himself in that position by accepting a scholarship to a prominent university. If he didn't want to be in the spotlight, he shouldn't have taken the scholarship. Since he did, he has a responsibility that other students may not have.

Now his actions have cast the school in a bad light, and he will have to deal with whatever consequences the school determines are appropriate.

I completely agree. The point is that he is in the spotlight and not the university. If Temple disciplines him appropriately for his actions, then the problem does not reflect poorly on them. If no appropriate action is taken, then Temple should be criticized. Honestly, the only people on this planet that will build a negative opinion towards Temple from this story go by the name of Muddy Waters..

Ya think, he can use a Chaney defense - "self punishment"? Maybe take a few games off? Better to be an employee than a student? Ooops, there goes another reason to pay 'em.
