It may be better than Wake and Michigan and it may not be. Depends on which program you're in. I can tell you this though, it is far better than Temple.

Temple US News National Rank:#132.
Northeastern US News National Rank: #62.

Suck it.

If I had known you thought that was relevant I would have pointed out a long time ago that US News has BU ranked #53 and ahead of Northeastern.

And LOL @ Northeastern being 'far better' than Temple. You ask anyone outside of New England and they either think you're talking about Northwestern or some random directional school.

Sorry for my mistake. You are right that BU is ahead in academics. They still, however, are not a better member for sports. Don't give that hockey BS, cause nobody cares about college hockey (sorry JHG). It comes down to basketball, and NU is waaaaaay better.

I'm sorry but Northeastern is way more prestigious than Temple. That isn't even an argument. Temple is a safety school. Ask anyone outside of PA if they know what Temple is, and they will either think you're talking about temple temple or they will recognize it solely on its sports accomplishments. NOT for academics.

Completely ridiculous. When your most notable thing is some bullshit co-op, you know you're a joke. Zero notable academic programs at Northeastern. Can't say the same about Temple. Be sure to tell the President of Princeton that Temple is a safety school, by the way.

I am sorry but when are moderators going to kick this Z-8 Minutemen clown off this board. He doesn't bring a thing to this board and puts real UMASS fans in a bad light.
All he does is try to store up trouble.. I mean seriously has anyone read this entire thread...

Are you really a college sports fan from New England? Have you never been to hockey games in Maine or New Hampshire (so many locals go to those games, and are rabid fans)? Even UMass has had Hockey more widely attended than most basketball games in recent years (especially by students - most of the fans at basketball games have been locals generally speaking), and the hockey team hardly ever finishes above .500 (granted, most of the wins do come at home).

There are football schools (none in the Northeast), there are Basketball schools (UMass in the 90s, but not now), and there are Hockey Schools (BU, BC, Maine, UNH, and then a bunch of schools like Bemidji).

Northeastern's notable programs are in Business, Marketing, and Management, and all are highly regarded. I decided to list our program regarded as #1 in the country though, and it happened to be the co-op. My mistake.

1st of all, I am a real UMass fan. Been one since 1981. Don't question my fandom of all things.
2nd, I did not start trouble in this thread. If you go back to my first post you will see me state two things. The first was that NU is a better academic and athletic member for the CAA than BU. And what I get in response is a real pot-stirring post from JHG in which he mocks my statement. So I respond fittingly by throwing a little facts and smack back at him. The conversation took off from there. In the second part of my first post I state my opinion on the move by BU. Jpschmack then agreed with me, and expanded upon my suggestion. I would say that that is bringing something to the board and specifically this thread, unless we have different definitions of that.

Re: Boston U to Join Patriot League

There is no one in the world who thinks NEU is a better academic school than BU. No one.

Business? At Northeastern? LOL

$39K a year just for tuition for a business school no one has heard of. I'll graduate from Temple for the cost of a year of tuition room and board at Northeastern. A far better investment than $213K for an undergraduate education at Northeastern.

First of all, it's NU, not NEU. Get it right. Northeastern is not 2 words is it? Nope, that's what I thought. Seems they don't teach that stuff at Temple. 2nd, you don't work with prospective college students these days do you? Because a number of them would rather go to NU than BU.

Northeastern has a highly regarded business school, so you prove you don't know what you're talking about.

Northeastern and Temple are both fine schools in certain aspects, as are any of the other schools in the A-10. But if we had to go by overall academics, NU would probably be the third best in the entire A-10, right behind Fordham and GW.

Sorry but Richmond blows Northeastern away in overall academics, athletics and just about anything else. And if you want to talk undergrad business schools, Robins School at UR has been ranked in the top 15 for the last 4 or 5 years by Business Week.

I think Richmond gets forgotten because people are often fixated on the US News rankings and Richmond falls under a different category. I always see Richmond as being about tied with GW, thenFordham a bit behind those two and then I really don't know where the rest of the A10 would fall. In the PL we would be near the bottom.

I do think Richmond is better than Northeastern, but also think that it's a bit over the top to say you blow them away.

Richmond is currently ranked 27th in the US News Reports rankings for national liberal arts schools, and is above Lafayette, Lehigh, Bucknell, Holy Cross, and American; trailing only Colgate, USMA and USNA. As for selectivity, Richmond had over 10,000 applications this year for 740 spots in the freshman class.

Northeastern refers to itself as NEU. Type in NEU.edu. Look at the website that comes up, particularly on the bottom where they refer to their internal site as myNEU.

Lehigh is ranked #38 under National Universities by US News. Not sure if that was just a mistake on your part, but I would seriously struggle to put Richmond ahead of Lehigh.
