Re: 2012 Summer Leagues

HAHAHAHAHAH muddy's post contradicts itsself. He posts how terrible the league is and how worthless it is then goes on to post stats of the players who played and make fun of the players who didn't even bother to show up.

Like what everyone has been saying. Its a league for fun. No one cares about your stat line unless you drop 30 in a which I think Jeff Robinson did.

I think its funny how lame all the dayton fans are who are on here posting about how bad the daveros league is when all it is is a league to have fun in and play basketball. It just shows how sad and insecure they are about their own basketball team.

You're right, it is sad....it's equally sad watching national beat writers snooker their paying customers into believing Jeff Robinson is the next coming of Glenn Robinson (obviously no relation) based on a 30 point game in a pick up league.

Re: 2012 Summer Leagues

I really don't like these summer leagues at all. The Bona players who have worked under Schmidt all summer have shown great strides over the past few years. Michael Davenport played in the Cincy summer league last summer and was surpassed by a couple of younger guards before his injury. Stay at school for the summer, go to class, lift, play some ball with the team, and get ready for the fall!

Re: 2012 Summer Leagues

I don't really understand why there is so much hate for the summer leagues (specifically Deveroes). Is it great basketball? Obviously not, but it definitely doesn't hurt anything.

Players (Xavier's anyway) go when they don't have conflicts. They rarely (if ever) play on the Wednesday nights due to classes and also miss some due to camps. The reason most of them missed last weekend is because of Xavier's Elite Team Camp going on back on campus that most players were required to help run (and help with recruiting a few players that were there I would assume). It takes a whole 2-3 hours out of a players week to go have some fun and play Deveroes, I really don't see how that can hurt their development one bit.

Chris Wright played in the league 2 summers ago (following his junior year)even though nobody else from Dayton did.

You missed my point. Jeff Robinson is clearly not gonna score thirty in a D1 game. Its a league where players go to play. So they gonna have different stat lines then a D1 game. If those paying costumers know anything about basketball they will simply think good for him and leave it at that. I certainly don;t think Jeff is gonna explode. I doubt many others think that either. These stats are kinda like HIGH SCHOOL STATS. They Don't mean anything except to be put in a muddy post.

Only if they reflect poorly on a Xavier player.

Re: 2012 Summer Leagues

Every college player plays pick up games in the summer against a variety of competition including washed up college players, lower level college players, high school players, guys frome europe, ect. The DSL is just more organized, nothing really to it. They just happen to put the stats on the internet. Stop the scrunity, its stupid.

Exactomundo! Too much hoops. Get together, play some ball, bond, and get in the classroom. Just maybe you'll get a degree, who 'duva thought. Shame they can't find a way to actually do some real world stuff like "work" (for some pizza money or some 21st birthday hookers?).

Ghost of Maynard G Krebs.

Re: 2012 Summer Leagues

A few A-10 players generally play in the Greater Hartford Pro-Am League. Freddie Riley is playing for the Springfield Slamm in that league. It's a pretty good league, lots of UConn guys and former UConn guys now in NBA. Jeremy Lamb will also play for the Slamm when he can.
