That funds most if not all of their merit awards, based on my experience with institutional funding at a couple of other similar schools.
5% of UR undergrads (150) paying full freight would bring in a little over $8 million per year.

Here is UR's balance sheet for 2012...if everyone paid full tuition, it would bring in $160 million toward UR's $207 million budget. But once you account for scholarships and financial aid, UR actually brings in only $88.7 million in tuition and fees. $70 million from the endowment and $39 million from auxiliary enterprises gets you close to the expenditures.

I definitely did my math wrong and ended up with like 500 students as 5% of UR's enrollment. Don't know what happened there.

This is true. I didn't have the 55k though.

Dude, I'm not wrong on this. I lived there for four years and I still live in DC. My freshman dorm - Thurston Hall (around 900 freshman, once listed by Playboy as one of the biggest party dorms in America - was at 19th and F St. The White House is at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Technically that's 3 blocks (because if F continued it would be hit the White House), but since you have to go around the Old Executive Office Building, I called it 4.

The Smith Center is at 23rd and F (just off 23rd, school buildings are on the corner of 23rd). The Lincoln Memorial is at 23rd between Constitution and Independence. The blocks are big there because of the State Department so technically it's only 3 blocks, but because the blocks are very long there I called it 5.

Sorry, but I'm really not wrong about this or stretching it.
