Re: Spring Sports
They'll certainly make it to Brooklyn, but after losing all of that talent, you'd like to lean on more than eight guys--many of whom are fringe contributors from last season or first-year players.

The point I was trying to make was not that beating UD is a high point of the year for us usually, but watching the supposed know-it-alls from a certain school who are guaranteeing the end of an era and the rise of their own supremacy based on how talented and deep said team is---well, it will be sweet INDEED to come to the board after such a win. I'll come here if we lose, and take my lumps. However, the vitriol aimed at my X-men and my University has been pretty harsh and it all stems from years of frustration. To watch that frustration continue with such a CLEARLY (just ask Muddy) depleted and outgunned team...well, you get the picture. Last edited by Muskeagle; 09-11-2012 at 09:38 PM. |

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers
Obviously Mack should have known Davis' classes wouldnt be accepted because the NCAA cleared 8 kids last year for the same classes. Oh well, the perfect storm continues.

I am not a Muskie fan but the NCAA seems to take every opportunity to screw over the kids. I am really rooting for the day the serfs rise up and through off the yoke of the their NCAA overlords.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers
The NCAA can't retroactively remove eligibility in this situation. They can only go by what happens after they start an investigation. It's unfortunate for Davis, but there is really nothing the NCAA can do. It's all about timing, and he and Cassell got the short straw.
Diploma mill prep schools are dangerous. The easiest way to solve this is for all conferences to allow partial qualifiers. Then kids wouldn't be so quick to run to the nearest prep school that's promising eligibility in a year. They often have no idea what they are doing in terms of getting kids in the right core classes that are needed but are not considered the same as another class on their transcript. They just put them in any core class. "Oh you need a math and a science credit, here is your course schedule."

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers
The NCAA can do whatever it damn well pleases. The handling of the PSU case (where they ignored all their rules and procedures) put an exclamation point on the autonomy of the NCAA decision makers.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers
I was just told that the NCAA has essentially done away with the "partial qualifier" status...is that correct??? If so, that would explain why UD stepped back from Ryan Taylor and Ridenhour. I think Taylor would have ended up at UD if the partial tag were still good (imo). Neither probabaly would have paid their own way anyway. Unfortunately, Davis is sort of "stuck" after signing a letter of intent. Probably wishes he were at a cheap state school now (no knock on X in that statement).
