This is obviously the year for A-10 teams to get payback vs. Xavier.

The Muskies will have their worst performance in the league since the first year they joined. No way to get around it.

Home court advantage will deliver some close wins, but X is going to get blasted on the road.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers

Muddy, there is not a need to continually and obsessively post Xavier's roster, as it is most conveinently accessible through your signature line.

We get it. You're so excited that you may even come out of the basement when your Flyers should beat X for the first time in Cincy since Jimmy Carter was president.

I must admit, even as a UD fan...this drives me nuts! As for the last part of your post, I'll believe it when I see it.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers

If UD can't this year, you ought to just close up shop! That would be embarassing for the UD program, to say the least.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers

It would be bad if we didn't win down there....again, but I if we make the NCAA, that's the ultimate goal. I'd take that first if given the choice...obviously both would be great.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers

Agreed about NCAA as the goal. But given the predictions for X around here, if UD loses to Xavier, I don't think UD would be having an NCAA-bid type season anyway.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers

Xavier's top seven might be good enough for a middle-of-the-pack finish if the frosh PG Christon lived up to his billing and Philmore did not have the same slow adjustment as Taylor after his transfer. What worries me is the lack of depth and bulk and the wing defense.

I do some reason for optimism. Taylor clearly has the size and skills to be an impact player despite a tough season last year. I expect him to up his game a lot. Robinson is a fifth year play who's always had potential. He'll get plenty of minutes as a senior on a depleted roster and have his best season of his career. Philmore certainly put up enough numbers to suggest he could be an A-10 caliber player.

Wing and backcourt is more or a problem. Davis and Redford are small and not great perimeter defenders. Redford will have do a lot more to draw defendersd and be a decoy for his teammates. Both these guys can shoot the trey and that is a plus.

That leaves Christon. To avoid a big plunge in the standings, X needs the young fella to play well enough to make All-Rook first team and probably win ROY. Lot to ask of a new player.

There really is no need, Muddy. They can just sit back and wait for your full report to be posted shortly after the conclusion of the event.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers

Some don't agree.

#41 and NCAA bound!

Quote:
Final Projection:
Usually a team like Xavier must start strong to be considered for an at-large bid come March. The Musketeers are again loading up the non-conference schedule, but they can actually afford to lose those games and still come away with a trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Atlantic 10 is loaded this year, especially with the additions of VCU and Butler. This young team will need time adjust. In the past missing opportunities to beat quality competition in November and December would leave just about every A-10 team with just a few days to make things happen in the conference tournament. Now Xavier can struggle early and still tally some quality wins in January and February. And by January and February, Coach Mack will have this group playing great basketball.

Projected Postseason Tournament: NCAA

The guy who wrote that seems to think that Reynolds is going to be eligible. That could explain some of the delusion.

This could be another serious blow to the Xavier basketball program:
