Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers
There have been a number of posts in this thread from UD supporters regarding how obsessed XU fans are with the UD program. Yet a quick, and admittedly cursory, examination of the posts in this thread suggests that more than 1/3 of the posts on a thread about the 2012-2013 Muskies are in fact from Flyer fans. It might even be, given the posts from the combined other A10 programs on this thread, that UD posts also outnumber XU posts. Regardless, the obsession appears to be on the other foot.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers
Why on earth would X fans be obsessed with any middle of the pack A-10 school...regardless of proximity to the school? I may become obsessed with Butler or VCU if they can come to Xavier and win every few decades, but other than that.....

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers
Actually, having never seen UD win a game against the Muskies in Cincinnati since I came to Xavier in 1984, I don't have them on my radar at all. They're like a little gnat flying around trying to annoy. But I confess that in viewing this thread about the Muskies this season, I was struck by both the number of UD posts (from quite a few different posters) and the claim by some of them that Muskie fans are obsessed with their program (the evidence, I guess, is that we notice the large number of their posts on this thread). Hence I made the estimate posted above. End of story.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers
When it comes to being interested in what teams in the A10 do in the OOC schedule, I'm looking at the teams who are picked to be in the top of the conference. Loved Butler beating UNC for example. But the middling teams? They will have some good wins, some bad losses. I care about the suspected favorites having bad losses or really good wins. The rest of it is just tripe.

Xavier and Dayton fans will always pay more attention to each other than any other team in the conference. There is nothing wrong with that and no need for people to try to act like they are above it. |

This just in. Semaj said he was tired from the bus ride, ate a cheesesteak before the game and felt "palpable pressure" from the crowd of 14k yelling at him and the B10 refs were homers. Nonetheless, he attempted to perservere.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers
Xavier is truly in for "a multi-season rough patch" as Flyer fans so proudly predicting mere months ago....
Xavier is now sitting 6-1, with wins verse Butler and at Purdue, with the most depleted roster in recent Xavier history. Further, recruiting most obviously hasn't missed a beat... Problem for X though is Mack can't coach, and he really can't recruit. I wonder how much longer we'll be hearing that talking point around here..

X-Man47, please refer to the 2 posts prior to mine. As Mr. Rove says, its a two-way street.
Semaj looked pretty damn good yesterday. Well done. They look to be playing together really well. Signed, A Flyer Fan who Never Predicted a Multi-Year Rough Patch |

I forget who it was.. either Flyer75 or Adam... I think Flyer??? I think Adam's predictions revolved around how much X recruiting would take a hit.

I think what Xavier has done is very impressive. All the preseason gloom forecasts were entirely understandable, based on the perceived turmoil and being conservative about how well relative unknowns would pan out. X seems to have the talent to play and don't look to need a ton of depth (opposite of the Bonnies...our style of play necessitates a lot of guys and cracks are showing up front...especially when your center has a sprained ankle and your backup gets kicked in the back). I don't know if this will come back to hurt them in the second half of the season, but for now they and Charlotte are the outsider's surprise of the season.
