Nah, it was on the Xavier boards and I'm sure his grandma found it there and alerted him.

No, it was just an obsessed, delusional UD fan who found the article from some obscure website and then posted it to the thread. And then another obsessed UD fan who was the first person to comment on it.

Academic clearing problems ?

It looks like JUCO SF Chris Cantino missed the boat.

It is unfortunate for Xavier that the Musketeers will apparently play the toughest schedule in the school's history in the upcoming season.

Xavier Releases 2012-13 Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule (Xavier University - July 20, 2012)

Another Tough Non-Conference Slate

CINCINNATI
--- Xavier University announced its impressive 2012-13 men's basketball non-conference schedule today, including the dates and sites.

Xavier has 22 teams on its 2012-13 schedule that participated in 2012 postseason action, including 10 in the NCAA Tournament, combining the Atlantic 10 slate and all potential non-conference opponents.

"We continue to have the philosophy of putting together one of the nation's toughest non-conference schedules," said Xavier Athletic Director Mike Bobinski. "This is great for our fans and for our team as it prepares for what should be the toughest and deepest Atlantic 10 Conference since we joined the league (in 1995-96)."

The Musketeers open the season with a three-game homestand, including a non-conference game on Nov. 13 against new Atlantic 10 Conference rival Butler as part of ESPN's Tip-Off Marathon.

Xavier also hosts the likes of Vanderbilt, Memphis and Kent State while playing at Purdue, Tennessee and Wake Forest.

In neutral site action, XU also plays Cincinnati at U.S. Bank Arena and against a talented field in the Anaheim Classic in November that includes 2012 NCAA Tournament teams Cal and Saint Mary's and consensus top 25 preseason pick Drexel.

Re: 2012-2013 Xavier Musketeers

Xavier is probably in a much worse situation for the future than most Xavier fans realize.

This kind of national publicity is quite likely to hurt Xavier in their recruiting:

. . . and the loss of all five starters from last season's team, coupled with an obvious lack of depth and very difficult schedule this season means that Xavier could well have a losing season in 2012-13.

That very real possiblility brings with it a major headache for Chris Mack:

Athlete Movement in Division I Basketball Raising 'Alarm' (USA Today - June 24, 2012)
Of about 1,050 freshman men's basketball athletes at 340 D-I schools in their first two years of college:

Only 60% continue into their third year at their original institution.

Less than 2% leave early to play pro basketball.

The other 38% leave. Most transfer, some drop out completely, a few others leave for undocumented professional opportunities.

NCAA president Mark Emmert said: "40% of men's basketball student-athletes aren't at their original school by the end of their sophomore year because they've transferred, they've dropped out, they've moved on."

Coaches, concerned about the rate of transfers, have met with Emmert to ask him to slow the tide.

The members of Xavier's highly-touted freshman class all committed to a 2012-13 Xavier team that was to be led by returning starters Mark Lyons and Dez Wells.

Chris Mack undoubtedly sold Xavier to all four of them on the idea that if they committed to Xavier, they would be playing in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, and quite possibly, on another Sweet 16 team.

How do you think Semaj Christon and others will feel in March 2013 when Xavier doesn't even get a sniff by the NIT Selection Committee ?

With a PG # 3 ranking, Semaj Christon is already thinking 'NBA' and the 2012-13 season will quite likely see the value of his stock fall as Xavier endures their worst season in years.

But a good sophomore year at a 'name' BCS-conference school (after sitting out the 2013-14 season) would significantly boost Christon's stock for the 2015 NBA Draft.

A player like Christon can't afford to wait around for Xavier to rebuild, and he won't.

The big question is, how many present Musketeers will follow him ?

Funny that dbag Muddy thinks Semaj is gonna transfer. Seems he is even trying to encourage him to transfer. In my opinion, this poster is scared shytless that Semaj and Co. are going to be a lot better than his feeble mind can comprehend. With Wells and Lyons gone, someone has a golden opportunity to step up and be "the man". X is gonna do what X always does and that's win and win NCAA tourny games. It may be a year of growing pains but it may not be either. Time will tell. My money is on X and Muddy crying in his grandma's basement AGAIN.

What's your point....happy 45th.... my point is Muddy consistently trashes X every SINGLE Day with nonrelevant garbage and is cheered on by the UD posters. So why do you get upset when I post nonrelevant garbage? Same crap. Different day.
Muddy has a admirable record. He is ofer every single prediction he has EVER MADE. 99% of his X posts turned out to be outright lies/unprovoked smears. Troll on. I'll flap it out.

How exactly has UD been able to keep their recruits around? The Flyer program must certainly be well-versed in that skill.

Again, Mack has won more NCAA games in 3 years as head coach at X than UD has won in 27 years. If UD doesn't have a problem keeping their recruits around, I don't think Mack will. Although, UD's grads don't go to the NBA... so you may have a point Muddles!!!
