Re: College Madness Top 144 preview
That has gotta get better just through a little maturity and experience - right?

Re: College Madness Top 144 preview
Seems like UMass would benefit greatly from Putney or Vinson embracing a true post role, rather than trying to force the issue on the perimeter. Putney seems like a superstar in the making, but there are still plenty of times when he doesn't put his good size to use because he's facing the basket against shorter defenders.

Re: College Madness Top 144 preview
Putney weighs about 40 pounds. He is not a back to the basket player. What scares me is when he drives and either shoots a little float shot from about 11 feet high, or just throws one down on someone. If he makes that his option #1 and the three-ball his option #2, instead of the other way around, watch out.
Vinson is a guy with post skills, but he's not very athletic. If someone bigger is guarding him, he can't seem to elevate from what I've seen. |

Re: College Madness Top 144 preview
Drexel #36 - - - - -#36! WELSER HAS LOST ALL CREDIBILITY! Umass beat them in their building last year and is 20 places behind them when both teams are virtually the smae as last year..... WELSER HAS LOST HIS MIND!
He needs to immediately reorganize this list - IMMEDIATELY - and while he is at it, he should swap Dayton and X as well - I read from a very reliable ratings servicethat Dayton was picked to be 13-3 in conference and run the table a home this season - How could the ypossibly be any lower that #41 with those kind of numbers!

Re: College Madness Top 144 preview
Drexe will be a damn good team. They have a bunch of scorers that are incredibly tough to guard and they play rough, hard nosed defense.
Not to discredit UMASS beating Drexel last year at the DAC but have you ever tried to play in an NIT game after you just went 16-2 in your conference, won 29 games and lost by a couple in your conference championship? I'm not surprised, UMASS was playing with a chip on their shoulder and Drexel was playing with pure disappointment as a lot of people marked them as the biggest snub. |

If that was a first round game, I can your point. Once you get past the first round dissapointment game (see Dayton on how NOT to get by that) I think most teams go back to normal, and don't think for one second that Bruiser did not want to stick it to Umass and was not getting his players up for that game.

Re: College Madness Top 144 preview
Just 3, Bill Russell.
The Dallas Cowboys, my favorite football team. And UMass and Northeastern, my two alma maters. I have my right to root for them, correct?
