OT: NBA Training Camp Rosters

UD has four players on teams/invites:

Chris Wright - Toronto Raptors (invite, not listed on roster)
Devin Searcy - Philadelphia 76ers (listed on roster)
Chris Johnson - Los Angeles Clippers (invite, not listed on roster)
Brian Roberts - NO Hornets (listed on roster)

Good luck to all four.

Roberts stands the best chance and is very close to a lock to make the team. There are articles and interviews with him already on the Hornets web site. I think Wright will be like last year, bouncing back and forth. Searcy and Johnson have their work cut out for them, especially given the roster make ups of those teams but should do well somewhere after training camps end.

feel free to list other A10 players trying out or sticking with NBA teams here.

Re: OT: NBA Training Camp Rosters

Little interest shown so far in Saunders

Damian Saunders, who played on the Miami Heat Summer team and Houston D League team last year, has not yet been invited to a camp. Too bad, he is a good guy. Will probably end up in Europe again.

Spurs Pick Up Derrick Brown (Shannon Russell, Cincinnati Enquirer - September 21, 2012)

Former Musketeer Derrick Brown has signed a non-guaranteed deal with the San Antonio Spurs.

Best of luck to Derrick and all the other A10 alumni who are NBA hopefuls!

Re: OT: NBA Training Camp Rosters

Phil Jones signed a contract with the Timberwolves.

I doubt he'll make it past training camp, but I'm happy to see Big Phil get noticed by an NBA team. He was a very good defensive player.

I believe it was mentioned in the summer league thread, but Dionte Christmas is on the Celtics roster.

Re: OT: NBA Training Camp Rosters

Nicholson is obviously with the Magic, but does anyone know if Michael Lee was invited to Sacramento's camp? He had a pretty strong summer with the Kings.

Re: OT: NBA Training Camp Rosters

No Lee for the Kings according to their roster. Wiki says he's at BC Donetsk in the completely not weak Ukraine.

Re: OT: NBA Training Camp Rosters

Dionte Christmas- Celtics
Micheal Eric- Cavs
Lavoy Allen- Sixers

Mardy Collins is in the NBDL and was on the Select Team. Ramone Moore will try the circuitous route to the NBA like Dionte.

The fact that Devin Searcy has made it this far, own his own hard work....is proof that Brian Gregory should never coach college basketball again!

Douggie still peruses the A10 MB for material. Flyer75 gets credit for this one:

Four Flyers Getting Chances in the NBA (Doug Harris, DDN - October 4, 2012 - 02:49 PM)
Four former University of Dayton basketball players have been invited to NBA training camps and are currently going through tryouts, which might be the most at any time in program history.

Brian Roberts is with the New Orleans Hornets, Chris Wright with the Toronto Raptors, Devin Searcy with the Philadelphia 76ers and Chris Johnson with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Roberts signed a two-year contract with the Hornets after a productive career overseas. Wright played as a rookie for the Golden State Warriors last season, while Searcy played in China. Johnson concluded his UD career last season.

Well done, Flyer75.
