Re: ESPN: Coach Mooney's Immeasurable Impact
We're incredibly lucky to have Chris and that Chris realizes how special Richmond is. nice to see a guy earn everything he's gotten and think nothing of it unless it helps others

re: Richmond
Some sweet memories, thanks E. Always good to share. On the 84 team #32 is father of current Trey Davis. #10 Greg Beckwith is current color man on the radio. #20, Johnny Newman, one of the greatest Spiders of all time, lenghty career in the NBA.

Re: CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION: OPENING NIGHT
Robins Tribute Highlights Basketball's Opening Night
![]() Two games for $1, selected concession items for $1, t-shirt and poster giveaways, retro uniforms worn by the men's team, autographs and a special halftime ceremony honoring one of the greatest moments in Richmond basketball history will tipoff the season-long celebration of 100 Years of Spider Basketball Friday at the Robins Center. The women's team christens the season with a 4 p.m. game against Longwood. The men's team hosts Liberty at 7 p.m. All tickets for the doubleheader are just $1, with selected concession stand favorites also offered for only $1. Friday night's season opener is also a Kids Club game, with members receiving free admission. In honor of 100 Years of Spider Basketball, the men's team will debut retro uniforms, to be worn at selected home games this season. The uniforms are virtually identical to those worn in the mid 1980's when Richmond was making its first NCAA appearances. The uniforms include the memorable barber shop pole red, white and blue piping down the sides. A retro-style 100 Years t-shirt and commemorative 100 Years poster will be given away to the first 2,500 fans. At halftime of the men's game, a special ceremony will recognize the unprecedented support of Richmond Athletics from the Robins Family, while honoring E. Claiborne Robins, Jr., the visionary and driving force behind the Robins Center, which opened 40 years ago. http://www.richmondspiders.com/ViewA...B_OEM_ID=26800 |

First game for each A-10 school (a lot of schools started, stopped and then started again so these may not be the official dates for the beginning of the program).

re: Richmond
Wow, once Charlotte leaves VCU will be by far the youngest program in the conference. That's very cool to look at, thanks for that!

re: Richmond
How many of these schools had the name they have now when they started playing? I know a number of A10 schools had entirely different institutional names at one time or another.

As we all know, Bona's used to be St. Bonaventure's College, which is why the apostrophe is correct. Founded name: Butler: North Western Christian University Charlotte: Charlotte Center of the University of North Carolina , Charlotte College Dayton: St. Mary's School for Boys (can't believe this isn't used by more Xavier fans) Duquesne: Pittsburgh Catholic College of the Holy Ghost Fordham: St. John's College GW: The Columbian College in the District of Columbia UMass: Massachusetts Agricultural College URI: Rhode Island College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts VCU: Medical College of Virginia and Richmond Professional Institute Xavier: The Athenaeum, St. Xavier College Temple, Richmond, La Salle, St. Joe's, Bona's and Saint Louis just changed from college (academy for SLU) to university.
