re: Richmond
Wow. Thanks, Wolf! I was just wondering if the inauguaral seasons listed above indicated the first season for each school as an overall entity or not. For instance, does Dayton include wins/losses/stats from its years as St. Mary's?

re: Richmond
Richmond actually started as Dunlora Academy in 1830, was renamed Virginia Baptist Seminary in 1832, and finally became Richmond College in 1840. Westhampton College for women was added in 1914 when the school moved to its present in location, and in 1920 Richmond College, Westhampton College, and the law school were united under the new University of Richmond name. Richmond College (men) and Westhampton College (women) continue to exist today with separate student governments and traditions, although all classes and other activities have long been coed.

![]() Things have obviously come a long way since then. When I was there in the late '90s, classes, dining, etc. had long been coed, but dorms were essentially all single-sex with the men on one side of the lake and women on the other. (The exception was the upperclass apartments on what has now come to be called South Campus, which were mixed.) Just after I left they swapped some dorms so that men and women were on both sides, although the buildings themselves were still single sex. There are now several dorms that are themselves coed by suite. Every undergrad student at Richmond is a member of two schools/colleges, an academic one and a residential one. The academic one would be Arts & Sciences, Business, or Leadership. On the residential side, men are members of Richmond College and women are members of Westhampton College. |
