Spiders Tripped Up At Ohio
![]() ATHENS, Ohio - Playing without point guard Cedrick Lindsay for the second-straight game, Richmond led by two with 14 minutes to go but Ohio finished off the Spiders 73-48 Saturday. The Spiders (4-2) were led by junior forward Derrick Williams who scored a game-high 17 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor while grabbing six rebounds. ![]() Richmond’s Williams Named A-10 Player Of The Week NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After posting a pair of double-doubles in two Spider wins this past week, University of Richmond junior forward Derrick Williams was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. In the team's double-overtime victory over William & Mary, the junior posted second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Spiders Take Down Wake Forest At Robins Center
![]() Led by a career-best 26 points from junior Derrick Williams, the Richmond Spiders defeated the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 62-60, in the Bank of America Challenge on Saturday night at the Robins Center. The win was third straight for Richmond over Wake Forest. Williams notched his second-straight double-double in the victory, grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds. Sophomore Kendall Anthony joined him in double figures with 11 points, hitting all six of his free throws down the stretch. "We our executed our best down the stretch of the game," head coach Chris Mooney said following the win. "We did the things we needed to do to win and certainly made foul shots. The rest of our guys are hit or miss in terms of scoring production with none averaging more than 5.8 ppg, and for whatever reason they weren't even putting up shots against Ohio. It worked for the first half, but then we imploded in the second half and as things went bad I think the role players tried to defer to the stars to right the ship, but it didn't work. |

Agreed. The Spiders dominated from start to finish and handed the Monarchs their worst loss in the history of the Ted Constant Convovation Center.
