Re: Best rivalries in the league
The real story very well could be UR this year. Whats the bigger story? UR gets to re-new a rivalry with VCU after a dredful 16-16 campaign and could be poised to be the dragon slayer--okay Ram slayer
after getting embarrassed last season by almost twenty points. VCU has gotten much of the local and Regional/National press and rightfully so, but a bigger story could be a UR resurgence. Is this team better than the one two years ago making a Sweet 16 run? Many in RVA think it will be. Is VCU better this year than last? Many here think VCU will certainly be as good if the void of Burgess is filled but lets face it; VCU knew its competition in the CAA and Shaka was incredible at exploiting weaknesses and he and VCU must be able to do the same quickly with A-10 teams. Trust me, those binders the staff have been carrying provide alot of reading material to get them up to speed This rivalry gets taken up a notch this year!

Re: Best rivalries in the league
I found an article in the Pittsburgh Press dated January 21, 1990, and the article was headlined as "Duquesne suffers 65-59 loss", the game was played in Olean. The article says "Duquesne vs St. Bonaventure was, at one time, one of eastern basketball's hottest rivalries. In February 1952, the Dukes ranked No.3 in the nation, met No.4 ranked St Bonaventure in a clash hyped as the "Game of the Century" by writers at the time. There were 25,000 ticket requests for the 5,000 available seats in the Pittsburgh Gardens."
That is all the article contained about the game. The final score had Duquesne winning 69-63. The Bonnies finished the year 21-6, getting an NIT bid. In the NIT the Bonnies beat Western Kentucky, Lost to Dayton and then beat Duquesne. Bona & Duquesne have had a long and heated rivalry. |

I never chose to "plague" UMass. I simply chose to transfer there during my college days for personal reasons, and have been a fan ever since. Is there something wrong with that?

Re: Best rivalries in the league
Correction: YOU are the IDIOT. Anybody who takes what they read on a message board this seriously needs to get a life and reassess their priorities. Calm down and argue with people respectfully. I've never resorted to saying this about someone on this board, but you sir, are pathetic.
