Re: UD’s Kavanaugh suspended for year

I think we're losing sight of the fact that this really doesn't impact Dayton because Kevin Dillard is there to pick up the slack.

Well, I'd kind of hope that his family would stand by him. I'm just glad I don't have to.

Is that your opinion or have you looked back at the Dez thread(s) to substantiate this claim. I will look later tonight and see how many posts UD fans had on the Dez situation compared to X fans on this... because it's been pretty light from X.

I have a feeling after the facts are pointed out, you will actually be sorely mistaken.

Amount of posts has no bearing on whether they are "trollish" or not.

It also appears with X off season that quite a few X posters have abandoned ship (at least on this board) and haven't posted in quite some time.

Obviously it is my opinion. I don't think calling anyone "trollish" can be anything but an opinion. And I also don't think you counting posts will prove me right or wrong.

I have no doubt there were more posts by UD fans during the Wells situation, just as there were more posts by everyone else during the Wells situation. Because it was a bigger story.

I'm only trying to point out that you all are being obnoxious in your own way.

Re: UD’s Kavanaugh suspended for year

During the first 2 days of the Wells situation, there were 162 posts. 43 of those came from UD fans, totaling 26.5% of all posts coming from UD fans alone.

During the first 2 days of the Kavanaugh situation, there were 80 posts. 13 of those came from X fans, totaling 16.2% of all posts coming from X fans.

Over a 10 point difference, and that's not including the other threads started by UD fans in the days following.

*I only did a hard count of gross posts. If I attempted to calculate number of lines , words, links or bandwidth used... UD would have "won" by an even larger margin.

You had two full days of radio coverage that included a live interview with Bill Cunningham and Deters. You had a release of the full transcripts of interview and court proceedings. We've had none of that with Kavs. And I shouldn't have to note that Wells was X lone returning player that was viewed as an outside POY candidate in the A10.

This is all true. The problem is that certain UD posters didn't "make" it a story, but certain posters heaped a certain level of spite and vitriol on X for whatever reason they could make up: how it was handled, who runs X the program at X, how it is just another example of thuggery, blah blah blah. Now? Nowhere to be found. Furthermore, some of the notions that seem to be taken as fact (that X overreacted, or reacted too quickly, or mishandled it because a prosecutor said he felt Wells shouldn't have been indited) when NO ONE on here knows if they are fact or not. None of us know exactly what was said in front of the student review board. The flip side is that, according to all UD posters on this topic, UD clearly handled it all on the up and up. Great job. Way to go to get this "bad seed" out of UD. It's all a bit nauseating. My guess, is, both universities, handled their situations as well as they could. Xavier got worse PR and a different reaction partly because Wells was more of a loss. Obviously, the DA comments enhanced that as well, but the negative reaction to X had already begun.

I don't give X or UD a pass, simply from blind faith, but for either school to publicly dismiss a well known player, from the biggest money maker campus...I assume they do so with good reason.

One other point, if the timing had been reversed, I wouldn't have been surprised to see UD posters making the same claims about X posters as we are making here. I think overall, it's a call for ALL posters to get off their high horses, because Division I schools' shit stinks pretty much across the board.

Once we get WH and Welser to adjust their forecasts, we can come full circle.

Re: UD’s Kavanaugh suspended for year

Were you expecting anything different, though? It's tough for analysts and coaches and the media to project UD to be any higher in the A-10 than middle of the pack and NCAA-bound when the program hasn't shown it can very successful over the past 30 years or so.

I think the common thought with a lot of people (which leads to some hesitance) is that UD has a great senior PG, but a lot of unknowns/question marks around him.
