La Salle plays Canadian national champion Carleton on Friday night. Carleton beat Buffalo and Northeastern and lost by 4 to UNLV during late summer tours to Canada by those teams. Carleton will play at Villanova tomorrow night.

Re: Open Exhibition Games
Duquesne beat CMU 74-48
Andre Marhold had a nice night. Presser Ferry rips some players, talks about a few good things, but mainly talks about areas that need improvement big time. States his lineups could be mixed and matched into February. Also speaks about Sandy. Best Lines: " I don't think anybody played well" "They looked like they were dribbling footballs" I like his demeanor and straightforwardness. Didn't always get that before.

Re: Open Exhibition Games
Charlotte played Pfeiffer (DII) tonight. We won 95-51. Our top two scorers from last year sat out with injuries.
The new guys showed some nice flashes of ability, but it is difficult to judge against this kind of competition. |

Re: Open Exhibition Games
VCU beat Virginia Union 94-44 tonight. It was 94-32 with 3:24 to go and VUU went on a 12-0 run to close the game. No Ram played more than 20 minutes and every player scored.
Like others have said, playing against D2 competition it's really tough to draw anything from the performance, but we looked good tonight.

Re: Open Exhibition Games
87 of Charlotte's 95 points came from either Freshmen or Sophomore's. Mayfield, Braswell and JT Thompson (Va Tech transfer) all sat. Mayfield is nursing a high ankle sprain, Braswell (foot) & Thompson (knees) were held out for precautionary reasons.

Thompson I think was held out for the same reason. He's had two ACL tears in the last two years. We haven't heard that he's reinjured himself, so we think it was just a precautionary thing. Mayfield has a high ankle sprain. He may be back for the opener, but if I were placing bets, I would put my money on him not playing until the Alaska tournament. |

Re: Open Exhibition Games
Mayfield will definitely be out for the opener with his high ankle sprain. Next thing to find out, if anyone will be suspended for the opener.

Bona 104 - Mansfield 61.
Conger with 25 points, 9 boards and 5 assists, and 4 others in double figures. Otherwise, the Bonnies are an athletic bunch.
