Re: Defense
Boy, Goodman really seems to be the lead horse trumpeting the idea that Nicholson was 110% of St. Bona's success last season. It's hard for me to imagine a much better perimeter defender than Charlon Kloof, but we'll have to see how this season goes. I know one thing: Bona went on a tear when Kloof and Gathers, both of whom were first-year players, started together in the backcourt. Nicholson gets all of the credit nationally, but the perimeter defesne was exceptional for most of February and on.

Re: Defense
I think many people will be surprised at how much the Bonnies have returning.....not only did the "supporting cast" play well, there are some guys coming back from season ending injuries that can really play. I think the Bonnies are definitely on that second tier with Dayton, Richmond, etc. Definitely more talented than the bottom tier that many are putting them on....
Nicholson was great, but you don't win this league just behind one stud. |

Re: Defense
Weber will be tested tonight by the guards of Virginia Union who like to run and are capabale of creating turnovers of their own. Problem is shooting efficiency for this Union squad which does return its starters from last year. I do expect Shaka to press but I think many will be with a twist, more mid court traps set against the Union backcourt BUT Unions's bigs are very very good ball handlers so this is going to be fun to watch. Hard not to be excited about the proposition of a cross town school from a lower division playing the Rams tonight!
