Questions for Butler Fans

SLU fan here. I am coming up for the SLU/Butler game in late February. Just some questions.

1. Never been to Hinkle Fieldhouse. Are there any bad seats? Not looking for anything very expensive.
2. 6:00 game time. Would you recommend trying to drive back after the game or would a hotel make more sense? Don't know what traffic is like after games and how long it would actually take to get back to St. Louis.
3. Any construction/traffic to avoid coming to the game? It would be right around rush hour so just looking for some suggestions.
4. Any good places to eat around the arena?

Feel free to share any other thoughts you might have.

Re: Questions for Butler Fans

1. I'd try to avoid the bleachers above the walk way. You'd probably want to act soon for that. They did almost 9k (seats around 9500) for the last exhibition game.

2. I'd stay. Butler is right in the middle of the city.

3. From St Louis, you'll come up 70 until you get to 465. Just take that to 38th street, that's the easiest

4. Butler is 3 miles from Broad Ripple. It's sort of a village of bars, restaurants, clubs, and little shops. (Google it)

Re: Questions for Butler Fans

13.... Ive been going as a visitor to Hinkle since the 80s from Cincinnati. I have been going to Indy for other sporting events for much longer than that.

Title's advice about seating is correct, get lower level ASAP. Be forwarned, Hinkle, despite "upgrades" is depending on your viewpoint, "quaint" "historic" or just plain old and big, Hoosiers notwithstanding. Don't be looking for beer or fine dining. On the other hand, the prices were reasonable for a dog and a soda. I like the place, and though most Xavier fans don't agree, I like the fans there, have always had a decent neighbors around me. The thing about Indiana basketball fans in general is that they actually know basketball and appreciate good play.

TI am glad to hear that the place is finally filling up for Stevens and Co. Xavier fans could always get lots of tickets in the past, so it was one of those rare college situations where fans on both side were making about the same amount of noise.

Butler U is located in a (nice) residential neighborhood, no immediate commercial or hotel area. Be forewarned that parking is tight near Hinkle. As for hotels etc, don't discount looking for a room down around the Circle in downtown. Be sure to see if there is a conflict with a Pacer game that evening......downtown hotels might be tighter. Plenty of restaurants and quite walkable, pleasant and safe. Broad Ripple is fine if your sensibilities are suburban.

It has to be 4 hours with a pit stop return trip to St Looie.....and I thought the point of a road trip was to hang around. Indy is a nice town to visit.

Hinkle Fieldhouse is already considered a top 5 college basketball venue nationally.

After the renovations that will be exhibited today, it'll have all of the technology/features as well. It's just an impressive building the first time you see it, when the job is completed, I'd imagine it'll become even more of an advantage.

Plus, joining the A-10 meant they had to upgrade to the Precision Time System. So they've got going for them now.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.
