Re: 11/11 A-10 Game
I am not suggesting that Benson shouldn't take 15 footers. But he really should be doing most of his work down low. He has the size, experience and skillset and not too many A-10 post defenders are his equal. I don't think the young guys are ready to become first options in the post.

I'd like to see more big-to-big passes in the post area. Benson to Robinson, or vice versa, would be nice. Even a guard-to-big-to-big hedge off the top in some fashion. Have Benson run a pick, find him the ball while someone is sliding over so that he can find Robinson alone under the basket. But, I'm not a coach, maybe it's easier to write it down here than actually be able to execute it. Last edited by Gormin71; 11-12-2012 at 08:13 AM. Re: 11/11 A-10 Game
Of course Robinson is going to be alone under the bench. Who would guard someone not on the floor?

Re: 11/11 A-10 Game
I guess it all depends on match-ups, but Benson rarely holds his ground in a scrum around the hoop. He bends like a reed. He's very mobile, and gets his openings from movement most of the time. He's got a velvet touch on his jump-shot that I really think UD should exploit.
Benson is good slashing to the hoop, cutting in front of the hoop and finishing some alley-oops but he does not do well hanging out on the blocks for more than a momentary visit.

Re: 11/11 A-10 Game
I agree with Elvis. I love how Archie is using Benson so far this year. He's in near constant motion. He's picking and rolling or picking and popping for the 15 footer. He's also getting the ball 10 feet out where he can use his quickness to get an interior shot up. When he does get the ball on the block, it's usually off a flex screen so the defender is either too small to guard him, or out of place and already on his hip. That's two points or a foul every time. And of course with his size and speed, Benson excels in transition.
Benson is not the kind of player you want to park on the block and tell him to go to work. That makes him an average player. What Archie does with Benson allows him to become an All-A10 caliber performer. That's why I absolutely love Archie Miller as a young coach. Barely a season in and he already knows how to get every one of his players the ball in the best place for them to succeed. Brian Gregory had 8 years and still couldn't do that.

Re: 11/11 A-10 Game
Gotta be honest. I saw a page full of Dayton talk and assumed it was Saturday's thread. I don't know dates.
