Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
Wow, Xavier looks unbeatable. Butler looks much less athletic than X actually. Xavier will cool off eventually though and we will see what happens.

Almost to a man, Butler is a half-step slow and 15lbs too light. Xavier is really good when they ad lib but very mundane when bogged down in a half court possession.
The pace of play probably decides a winner in this one. Sent from my DROIDX using VerticalSports.Com App

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
My thoughts on the game:
I am very disappointed with our play today, quite honestly. Harvard looked a lot better than I thought they would be, and I would say they're an improvement over last year's Harvard team. That freshman Siyani Chambers looks outstanding, I could see him being ROY in the Ivy League, if not POY (depending on how Princeton's Ian Hummer plays). Harvard played extremely well, but they outplayed us today, and that is unacceptable. Fortunately, we are the better team, and that showed in the box score. But that was not a win that we deserved. Regardless, I enjoyed the great finish and will take the win, but I'm not pleased. Individual Player comments: Jesse Morgan: He played poorly all day and took terrible shots, but he redeemed himself in the final minutes. That was clutch. Chaz Williams: First half he was making incredible passes that our players just weren't ready for or missed after they recieved the pass. Second half he was very out-of-control and I don't hope to see that again from him. Though the pass on the buzzer-beater was phenomenal. Cady Lalanne: Struggled offensively. But what more could I say about the rest of his game? His blocking and rebounding were spectacular. And the way he did it so effortlessly, amazing. Kid's gonna be a force in the A-10 for years to come. Raphiael Putney: Thought he played the best all-around game of anyone on the team today. He's on par for a great season. Sampson Carter: Doesn't look fully recovered from his injury, struggled a bit, but WELCOME BACK! Clutch. No comment on any other player as none of them impressed or disappointed me.

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
Harvard did look good. They are well coached and run a game plan that worked pretty darn well today. They wont be a tourney team unless they win the Ivy though.
Umass has issues that I am not sure can be solved. I am leaning away from them being a tourney team. Likely another NIT.

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
Watching some tape of Jeff Robinson over the summer, I thought he looked terrible - that Xavier was in real trouble if he was the key returnee in the frontcourt.
Tonight he looks like Doug McDermott. Did anybody else see this coming? Any ideas on whether this is a fluke, or if Robinson blowing up here? |
