Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
Thing that concerns me about butler is that it's pretty clear Roosevelt jones needs to be more involved on the perimeter. I had hoped he would work on his jumper and revamp his frame over the summer, but he looks out of shape and hasn't even looked at a jumper yet this game. Not good at all. He's a player that in his current state might really struggle with the a-10 transition.

Not over yet but couple of observations.
Need to fire Mack...can't coach. No idea how to hedge and help against ball screen with good shooters Surprised at how much more athletic Robinson and Taylor are than anyone on Butler's front line. Redford can shoot.

X-Band'01 - the story is not that Butler shit the bed - they have - it's that Xavier can spank a decent team. Even many Xavier fans weren't thinking Xavier could be doing that.

The only high level athletes Butler has are Marshall and Jones. Stenger is a D2 transfer and would be the 3rd most athletic rotation player for Butler. Smith is way too slow. The guards struggle to create space with a pick to help. I've seen now 10 A10 teams so far this season, and I will watch Temple and UMass on DVR this evening. Butler is far and away the least athletic team I have seen, and I know they are less athletic than both Temple and UMass.

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
Good win for Xavier. They started very fast and put up 23 points in 10 minutes. I'll have to look at the play by play, because it seemed like they shot 70% within the first 15 seconds of a possession. They struggled on longer possessions, but were dynamic in transition and off quickly set screens.
If Jeff Robinson has a Josh Duncan senior year, they can compete for a top 4 spot. Kid is playing extremely good basketball early on.

We'll also find out a little more how well Xavier handles a neutral floor at the 76 Classic over Thanksgiving weekend - but the early returns have been quite encouraging to say the least. |

From what I saw today, he gutted Butler during virtually every minute he was on the floor. Perhaps he's finally arrived. He may have his down moments, as anyone does, but perhaps he's arrived. That will make certain Dayton posters look as stupid as usual. |

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
X won bcuz of terrific defense, some of the best I've ever seen them play, timely assists and taking and making good shots and a very good game plan. They played against a guy who has won 80% of his games. Nice win for a team that lost some very key players.
