Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
This is a rough one, considering it was at home against a team that lost almost its entire starting lineup. Wichita State is a strong program, but this is definitely not the kind of start VCU was looking for. It's just one game, and I'm sure VCU will come back strong. Still distasteful.

I disagree. Both teams are very good defensively, IMO. I enjoyed watching it. I think VCU is the most impressive team I have seen in the A10 so far. I think that Witchita State is really, really good.

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
I don't know, I mean there were so many missed layups that it's hard for me to just say it was a great defensive battle. Wichita St is a strong program, I didn't mean brutal in terms of resume but brutal in that they had a million chances to win this game and let it go.

For those that did not see the game, here is a 3:24 highlight.

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
Tough, tough game.
I think we were exposed a bit. Gregg Marshall was masterful with the game plan. They were the better team out there. I don't know if that's more a reflection on us, or that they were just really good tonight. Both defenses were extremely high-level. Our inability to attack in our half-court offense against plus athletes and defenders was painfully evident tonight. There will be a lot of those kinds of players in the A-10, and I'm betting a whole ton of A-10 coaches will be studying the game tape from tonight when preparing for VCU this season. That was textbook perfection on how to beat VCU at what it does best. I still think we can be extremely good, and I'm glad we got exposed so early so we can work on things sooner rather than later. I think the top 25 buzz goes away now, which may end up being a good thing since we play best with a chip on our shoulder and something to prove. Just a brutal loss as a fan, but that was a great defensive game and I'm glad I got to see it. I have to give a lot of credit to Gregg Marshall and the coaching job he did. Very, very impressive tonight.

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
Malcolm Armstead was the most underrated player in the pac10 for 2 years, so I'm not surprised to see him tear it up. At the same time, wsu should be much like VCU last year at this time, fitting new pieces together and in need of some time. A discouraging home loss.
Is Troy Daniels ok? |

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
They lost almost their entire starting lineup, plus a key reserve. They were also picked to finish fourth in the MVC. Oh yeah, they also shot a stunningly abysmal 15% from behind the arc. VCU's style played right into their strengths.

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
Yeah Daniels is fine as far as I can tell. He walked back onto the court on his own strength, albeit gingerly.
I'm sure they'll run all the pertinent tests and we'll hear if there is anything negative soon. He was back on the bench and walking at the end of the game though.

Yes, but they beat a very good team on it's home court tonight. They impressed me. How many teams do you see beating VCU at home this year?

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
Fordham will be an all sports member of the PL before too long. Roach is a PL guy and knows the ropes of that league. It appears reality has finally set in after all these years in the Bronx that the Rams simply can't compete.

Re: 11/13 A-10 Games (Huge day!)
That is really where Fordham belongs. They're wasting money trying to play catchup with the rest of the A10. The Patriot League is an ideal institutional fit for them.
