Re: 11/14 A-10 Games
Saint Louis was favored by 14 and lost by 12 and were down by over 20 at points of the game on their home floor.
I'm sure Billikens fans are not too happy with Jim Crews right now, Mitchell or no Mitchell.

Re: 11/14 A-10 Games
Bonnies played like booty cheeks. Awful free-throw shooting and defense was lacking at parts.
But it is what I expected, I predicted a 4 point win. Road games are tough, Bonnies were 1-9 on their road openers before this game. Chris Johnson and Simmons both looked great. Kloof, Gathers, Davenport were a tad disappointing. Overall I'm just glad we won. Bonnies can hopefully start 4-0. And whats with those announcers? Awfully biased and didn't even know how to pronounce Conger.

Re: 11/14 A-10 Games
Kevin Foster was channeling Jordan Crawford out there. Just unconscious. Definitely got into Jordair's head. SLU forced him to take difficult shots, he made the difficult shots. Jordair got increasingly aggressive, and got into foul trouble. Evans took over the defensive assignment, and was too fatigued to contribute on the offensive end (I knew we were in trouble when Evans just pissed away what should have been a transition layup in the 1st half because he was clearly gassed)...towards the end of the 1st half they put Glaze on him...conceding the NBA 3 and Foster just pulls up and ices it like it's a FT.
This game was over when Jett picked up his 4th foul (shoving Foster out of bounds on the wing) on the first defensive possession of the 2nd half. Santa Clara was 6-7 from 3 in the first half, and were due to cool off - but SLU is already at a huge disadvantage playing without Kwamain - you take Jett out of the equation, and you have a dysfunctional team. McCall was out of sync, Evans expended too much energy trying to contain Foster to shoulder the offensive load, Ellis was just terrible on both ends (although he received some gifts from the zebras). The simple truth is that SLU does not look like an NCAA caliber team without Kwamain Mitchell. Sure they miss Majerus - no effing way would Rick have let Jordair pick up his 3rd foul in the first half - but even with Jett in there Santa Clara was beating SLU fairly and squarely. The crispness that's missing is simply a function of lack of depth at critical positions. There is no substitute for Dwayne Evans. Evans cannot take over Conklin's role offensively and maintain last year's stopper role on the defensive end. Jett was great coming off the bench last year playing 22 MPG, but he needs to learn to pace himself in order to stay on the court for 35 minutes (at least until Kwamain returns and/or Carter takes a step forward). To make matters worse, Keith Carter left the game after tweaking what appeared to be his knee. No clarification following the game. They cannot afford to lose him. Bottom line: Santa Clara is good. SLU misses Kwamain more than we thought. The season is not lost. They badly need to come out and beat Texas A&M on Monday and at least stay in the game vs KU just to re-assert themselves as an NCAA tournament contender. |

Re: 11/14 A-10 Games
Both St. Boanaventure and Umass got key wins against good Ivy league squads. These wins will be important to their final RPI and the conference's image.
