I have never felt so at ease over a coaching change than right now. Most of it is due to the fact that I am comfortable with Mike Rhoades at the helm.
I think Hamdy is going to stick around to help out this year too. If so that would mean every player would remain on the current roster. He can still fill out two or three spots to replace Lavar Batts (NC State) and Mayan Kiir (LSU).

Because Mo was a fifth-year player at VCU, he was eligible for last year's NFL draft, making him a free agent able to sign with any NFL team.

I remember watching this beast play at the Reilly Center back when Pitt was in the Eastern 8. Sam Clancy went on to have I think an 11 year pro football career, mostly in the NFL with Seattle, Cleveland and the Colts as a defensive end. Included in those 11 years were a couple of years in the USFL.

A HUGE photo in the VCU thread. Great job Bona84!

Speaking of Sam Clancy and Mo Alie-Cox, it had to be HUGE...

I have not heard an incoming coach speak about the VCU job the way Coach Rhoades has in his interviews. Last night at the basketball banquet he said he wants his youngest son to graduate from high school here in Richmond. He said that his son is scheduled to graduate in 10 years. Then he joked that since his son is a Rhoades it might take 12 years. Anyway, you can hear the sincerity in his voice and he says VCU/RVA is home. You never know because when the money truck arrives it will make you pause and think. Coach Rhoades is going to be here at VCU for a while. Oh and last night he said he plans to continue VCU's winning streak over UR when he competes in the Coach's Cook-off on Thursday.

I admire your enthusiasm, and clearly you love this guy as coach. But a lot of coaches are sincere and passionate and say everything you want to hear. I hope for your sake he is all that and a bag of something. But we've seen these movies before, and know the endings.

Well I have known him since he was a coach at Randolph Macon just out of college. I know his track record. I know that one night at 10 pm just after Anthony Grant was hired Mike Rhoades took a drive from Ashland, Va to RVA and went upstairs to the basketball offices. He found Anthony Grant in his office on the telephone. Rhoades gave Grant his resume and spoke with him about coaching at VCU. Grant had already hired his staff or had people in mind but the relationship continued. When Grant left for Alabama people at VCU were very familiar with Mike Rhoades so he was Coach Smart's first hire. I appreciate you admiring my enthusiasm but I know Mike and his family so I do know that he is in it for the long haul. You don't have to believe it but I am very happy because I know it is not just talk.

Re: 2017-2018 VCU Rams

He is in it for the long haul, that's great as long as he wins. I have no reason to think he can't, just stating the obvious and that's that VCU will let him go if he does not meet the standard that has been set and is expected at VCU now.
