Re: VCU
I watched the game last night and two thoughts occured to me.
One---I hate instant replay Two--VCU lost this game on the free throw line. 12 for 24 in a close game like this isn't going to get the job done. |

Re: VCU
I think that VCU will do very well in the A10 this year after watching them yesterday. I thought that game was played at a high level by both teams. Shooting was not great because both teams contested just about everything with good defense. VCU plays like GW when they were good, and that is a style that can swallow up teams with poor ball handling.

I think VCU in particular could get hit by this with their style of play. Physical, high-pressure defense works well when the refs let them play, and I'm sure they'll do quite well at home as a result (and tend to do better in the post-season tournaments where more physical play is allowed). But on the road, your players are more likely to get in foul trouble playing this style. |

Re: VCU
Watched some of the game. Simply put, if VCU hits their 3's in games this year they win vs everybody. Sorry, thats not going to happen, to me, some of their guys shouldnt be putting up 3's. But when it does rain 3's for them they win and could win big. The Shockers were a Final Four team last year if you saw them at the end of the year - before the VCU debacle. Armstead - holy crap - he makes up for at least 2 of the veteran losses last year. The newcomers - well - they arent playing like newcomers they are playing like the veterans the Shockers lost last year. Kind of expected this - as - the Shockers had all summer to prepare for this game and it was PAYBACK TIME. VCU seems to struggle every year at times throughout the season at times. But when its Tournament Time the seem to kick it into high gear. This aint the CAA men, and I dont know the VCU schedule but the A10 is going to pose some serious problems for them on the road and some at home. This was only one game and its early. So really it means little to nothing except that both teams are good.
Also, I would like to thank WH for contributing to the site. Wealth of knowledge that is accurate and the only other place you can get this type of information is from talking to someone on a A10 teams coaching staff about other teams personnel strengths and weaknesses. Now I have to go back and read it all. Thank you WH.

If you watched us at the Charleston Classic last season compared to the end of the season you'd see two different teams. We're going to get better each day. |

Nicely done.
Hopefully that gets the response you're trying for.
