I am used to it by now with the coaching changes. Silva and Mobley are in and most likely there are still four spots to fill. Next men up. It is Rhoades' job now.
He asked out and committed to NC State at the same time in his tweet. I had a feeling when Keatts got that job that Batts was leaning toward staying in NC. I cannot get upset over players that never put on the uniform. Shit happens. The big class that defected was two years ago which is now an empty junior class for VCU. Rhoades will put the pieces together and the ball will be tipped in November.
Yes, VCU had one open and now two with Batts going to NC State. I think it will end up being four. Kiir has been silent so I am guessing he will not come and Hamdy asked to look around.
I know that I sound like an old man, but do any kids actually sign with a SCHOOL anymore? Are they really that foolish to chain their entire wagons to a single coach in this era?
You don't like to see a committed recruit leave before they ever put the uniform on, but I think the chances of 'rebounding' from that departure are better now than in the past. This is an area where the grad transfer route can help. Then you have the kids who committed elsewhere, seeking to be released from their loi due to a coaching change.
If Seton Hall's center doesn't turn pro, the Pirates could well have a top 25 team next year. Somehow they are in the mix with Kansas and Duke for pg Trevon Duvall a definite one and doner. If they get him, they could make a very deep run in the Dance.
With the Maui Invitational, UVA, Texas and now Seton Hall a young VCU team is going to be tested. My season tickets are going to be scorching next year.
What a rich comment by a Marquette fan on Jeff Goodman's (who SUCKS and is the embodiment of the ADHD sports "journalist" of the modern world) feed. "Does VCU pay?" the guy asked. Right... because a good player choosing to go to VCU means payment was necessary, huh? HOW could someone NOT go P5 or BE? It's what any quality player is supposed to do! Barf.
Your sarcasm is always appreciated but it has been tough to lose two coaches in four years. VCU does not have a junior class due the coaching changes. Thank goodness players stuck around and the new coaches hit the ground running.
