I wouldn't mind it as much. I'd be sad over losing Butler and Xavier, but I don't really care about Dayton. At least we could keep VCU, go after Mason and Sienna and move on.

Hopefully the ACC targets Gtown and Nova to join as BB only members or something. That would help things a lot. I doubt it though as the ACC needs to seem like a strong football league. Also, wouldn't the BE7 try to go after Notre Dame?

Losing Xavier would be a bummer, to be sure. Butler's never played an A10 game. Losing Dayton would feel about like losing Virginia Tech or Rutgers. It's one big "meh". If it's true, congrats, I guess, but be careful what you wish for. It's been no breeze for UD to compete at the top of the A10. Things may not go well on the court.

For the most part I agree Knobby, I don't think an AD or President is surfing through messageboards looking for ideas, and I don't take myself too seriously. (BTW, not sure I said drop Fordham, we can't do that--can we? I simply said St. Johns would get an invite even if Fordham disagreed--more making the point there is a big difference between Rhode Island and NYC).

On the other hand, I'm also aware powerful alumni do read these boards. If I had the time, research, or effort to put facts behind what I believe to be true, I'd simply write or call the people that affect decisions rather than post them here. I don't have that time. But they might be inspired from reading here, and if they see an idea from these boards from our fans, they may be spurred to action to flesh out the ideas. If they don't so what--nothing lost.

And if you think the boards really are just a closed closet with fans screaming into it that only other fans in that same closet hear, I can tell you from personal experience that's not the case. In jettisoning our former President successfully, the Spider messageboard played a surprising and fairly integral part of the process. Don't underestimate the forums or other forms of social media impacting big decisions.

On the whole, I agree for the most part the speculation is more fun than the idea any one post will affect change. Unlike you I think there is some small (1 in a 1000 or 1,000,000 or however many zeros it is) chance somebody comes up with a good idea here or on another forum, and that merits discussion by the people moving the pieces and making the decisions.

Florida St. and Clemson just strongarmed the ACC into taking Louisville. They would be out the door if the ACC tried to bring in the likes of Nova and Georgetown.

Dayton is a reallignment bubble team right now, IMO. I think it could go either way for us depending on how big or small a new conference will be.

I'm not really sure what is "best" from any perspective. Some of the reports suggest that the Presidents want to sit down and take objective looks at that. I'm fairly convinced thought that whatever results is likely whatever can make the catholic schools the most money.

We'll see.

I dont think so, I think both will end up aligned with UConn, Cincy, Memphis, etc. Thats not all bad. Dumping the crap western football would be nice though
