Why limit its scope from the very beginning by attributing a limiting factor to its name at its inception? I see Butler, VCU, Richmond, and Wichita State as potentially worthy members of this Conference but they would either have to "suck it up" or "bear the smell" or convert to fit into such a league. It makes no sense to me.

I am not Catholic so personally I don't see the faith affiliation either but it seems like (from rumors of course) that whether it be religion or just a more private school and education based conference seems to be how they want to brand it and that seems to appeal to a decent amount of people.

I don't necessarily think that is the best way to go either, but I was just making the point that I think making it a larger "brand" conference isn't out of the question, although I agree it won't be up to a BCS level scale (obviously).

Sources close to the discussions told Sporting News on Friday that one possibility to give the Bearcats and Huskies a home, which is at the early stages of discussion, would be a cross-continent all-sports league involving disenfranchised members of the Big East as well as the most prominent members of the Mountain West.

The proposed entrants would be UConn, Cincinnati, South Florida, Memphis, Temple, Boise State, San Diego State, UNLV, New Mexico and possibly BYU or Central Florida. Such a league would include football programs that are comparable and competitive, as well as extraordinary basketball featuring eight teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last season. NBC Sports Network is likely to be approached to gauge its interest in such a property.

True but that is going to be the case no matter what. I'd rather be with UNLV, San Diego St etc in a smaller conference for the time being with them instead of with Tulane, East Carolina etc.

Agreed. We were not going to be very good to begin with, but losing our best player (a pre-season first team A10) made matters exponentially worse. Losing last year's starting PG did not help either and now he is gone permanently. And before all that our coach set up one of the most ridiculous schedules I have ever seen for such a bad program. Not the opponents necessarily, but only one game at home so far.

You are absolutely correct - someone who gets it. If you read the media outlets, the BE7 are the most coveted possession in college sports. Their arrogance is just mindboggling. Actually, someone with much stronger feelings that way is the editor of UDPride. He's been making a strong case that the A10 schools should tell the BE7 that we won't be their little brothers, to put it nicely. I don't think that would be a real holdup if it came down to it, but he's been making a lot of fans consider the arrogance factor.

That sounds appealing as we sit at our keyboards and pound our chests with A-10 pride. But the reality of the matter is that if and when the invitations come to a few A-10 members to join those seven programs in a new Conference, THEY WILL ACCEPT. Remember, this may all have been avoided if, after 10 years or so of continued futility by certain members of our Conference, something significant would have been done to make those problems go away: either "surgery" or a healthy dose of "therapy." Unfortunately, Dr. Bruno was seemingly not trained in either of those forms of medicine.

One can only hope that the newbies to the Big East (or whatever it will be called) will not proceed forward with their collective noses up in the air!

You're kidding, right? I know GW is down right now, but you are a Bonnies fan and you have no place to rip a program that has been more successful over the last 20 years. I'm glad you had your 1 good year with Nicholson and your 1 good year in the late 90s/early 00s with Bremer, but the school that brought us the Welding scandal and many, many years as the doormat of the A-10 with RPIs in the low 200s has no place ripping a program that has brought the A-10 8 NCAA appearances in the last 20 years, including a sweet 16 and a few weeks in the top 10 six-and-a-half years ago.

Personally I would MUCH rather be in a conference with URI than St. Bonnie for that matter.

Get over yourself.
