Re: More BCS realignment
How do we know you're not actually going to the Catholic 7 trying to rip on the rest of the A-10?

Your guess is as good as mine (probably better, since I'm quite biased).

Murray State got some pub last year because they started 20-0. But by the time we added them to the A-10 (looking like 2014-15), won't that be forgotten? In the last three seasons, Belmont and Murray State have about the same win total (76 to 75), same number of conference titles/NCAA bids, neither's won an NCAA game. Belmont is in Nashville and Murray State is a two-hour drive from the closest metro airport. Since no one really "moves the needle" in terms of name recognition, I'd be looking for the best basketball team in the biggest markets we don't have. Of course, they might say no thanks if SLU isn't around, making it moot. |

Re: More BCS realignment
Wish I could take credit for that one...but I saw it last night during one of the 111111 or so debates about who's where.

Are all the home boards dumpster fires too, especially for the bubble teams?

1. We want to guarantee two match-ups a year amongst our seven for the best TV inventory possible 2. 12 means divisions, which means choosing one each from Dayton/Creighton and Richmond/VCU; which is a messy decision, so why bother? But I think you can accomplish your goals (and more) without those concerns being a relevant. 1. You don't leave TV dollars on the table because of a map. Just set the schedule to have all TV games you want and don't have divisions (like the BE and A10 have been doing for years). 2. Since you don't have divisions, you can just take the two you want out of Creighton, Dayton and VCU. Let's say VCU is out because they are big and public and that doesn't fit their model. I know lots of people will say that "can't work" because seven in the west, five in the east is bad for travel, travel partners, scheduling, etc. But it's NO DIFFERENT than the problems with having five and five in a 10-team league. One of your travel partners is a crazy pair either way: 7/5 Option 1: MARQ-DEP, CREI-SLU, XAV-DAY, SJU-SHU, NOVA-GT, BUT-PC 7/5 Option 2: MARQ-DEP, CREI-SLU, XAV-DAY, PC-SJU, SHU-NOVA, BUT-GT ----- 5/5 Option 1: MARQ-DEP, BUT-SLU, SJU-SHU, NOVA-GT, PC-XAV 5/5 Option 2: MARQ-DEP, BUT-XAV, SJU-SHU, NOVA-GT, PC-SLU 5/5 Option 3: MARQ-DEP, BUT-SLU, PC-SJU, SHU-NOVA, GT-XAV 5/5 Option 4: MARQ-DEP, BUT-XAV, PC-SJU, SHU-NOVA, GT-SLU The only reason to stop at 10 is if adding two schools doesn't add enough TV dollars to cover the extra split. But I think it would. And it also creates less competition for bubble spots as you're further weakening the A-10 and MVC. |

Re: More BCS realignment
The guy who had the election figured out, weighs in on the Sagarin numbers and conference strengths.
For those who think the A10 may be as strong as the BE 7, this may change some perceptions. http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes...orts&seid=auto
