Re: 11/21 A-10 Games
“We got completely outplayed and outworked in every aspect of this game to a better team. They were better than us at every position, including coaching. We have to come out ready to play and be aggressive and tonight we were flat and extremely selfish. You can’t score 90 one night then come back the next night, at home, and score 43 and shoot 27 percent."
-Jim Ferry Lets hope there is not an encore of last night's performance. A win tonight would make this tourney a success while a loss would be yet another missed opportunity early in the season.

Re: 11/21 A-10 Games
I'm a little surprised Butler is an underdog. Not necessarily from a pure basketball perspective, but after a miraculous buzzer beater and a win over a top 10 ranked team, I would expect Butler to see a lot of betting action at a +2.5 line.

Re: 11/21 A-10 Games
Very happy about the performance by the Dukes tonight. Nice to come back from a crap game and play well. This was a good tournament for the Dukes. Good competition. I think all the teams were similar in skill.
I said I would be happy with 2/3 wins from this tourney and got what I wanted. I am starting to favor Abele starting my a large margin. 7'1 Center Abele 9 pts, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, 0 turnovers in 14 minutes 6'6 Center Marhold 2 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, 4 turnovers in 19 minutes Also, two good performances by freshmen Derrick Colter and Quevyn Winters. Colter 18 points, 4 assists Winters 18 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist

Re: 11/21 A-10 Games
Dont get me started on fantasizing about Duquesne's possible lineups next year. They are scary good.

Re: 11/21 A-10 Games
I'm not going to call them "scary good", but if Abele establishes himself as a competent center, I'd expect for us to at worst, bounce back to what we were under Everhart.

Re: 11/21 A-10 Games
I have high expectations for Ovie soko and expect him to start at PF all season. I think he is All-Conference caliber, probably 2nd or 3rd team. Time will tell though and anything they get out of him is really just a bonus for next year. Also, if Watkins is as good as advertised the Dukes all of a sudden have one of the top front courts in the A10. It will be talented, tall, thick and experienced. The depth will be good too. The big guys Abele and Soko have some meat on their bones and should be grizzled vets by then.
But see, I am getting ahead of myself and am fantasizing. Bad me.

Re: 11/21 A-10 Games
Could be a tough game for Butler. Coming off that emotional high in a high-intensity victory, and facing an older, physically mature team. Illini also look good to start the season under new coach John Groce.

He's a decent player, but I wouldn't say he's a 2nd or 3rd teamer with the kind of players that are in this league.
