Re: 11/22 A-10 Games (Happy Thanksgiving!)
Definitely credit to Pacific. Shot lights out in second half.
Wish we would have got this one, cause we'll likely drop the next one as well (Drexel/St Marys)

The bench scoring stat in this game doesn't mean anything. Pacific's "bench" played more than their starters. 4 of their starters played 14, 14, 15 and 20. Regardless, Xavier will never win bench scoring. X only plays 2.5 people off the bench.

Re: 11/22 A-10 Games (Happy Thanksgiving!)
When a team shoots 56% on you, you are likely to lose the rebounding battle by a wide margin. That's why rebounding margin is a bad stat. Xavier only had like 22ish chances for a defensive rebound.
Not seeing the game, I can't deal in specifics, but giving up 56% shooting to a team like Pacific is probably going to keep Mack up all night.

Re: 11/22 A-10 Games (Happy Thanksgiving!)
I saw parts of the game, and thought that Pacific shot well because they got in close and were not contested that much. X isn't all that talented on the offensive side of the ball (outside of Semaj), IMO. They have to rely on great effort on defense, and that hasn't shown up the last two games.

Yep, pretty bad loss. Pacific is coming off a less than flattering 11-19 season last year and started off 1-2 this season before today's victory over Xavier.
Xavier was a solid favorite going into the game. The league needs to win games like this. Definitely the type of loss that doesn't help our league this season. |

Re: 11/22 A-10 Games (Happy Thanksgiving!)
What I really find confounding about this loss by Mighty Xavier to lowly Pacific is that Pacific had an RPI of 190 last year. Central Connecticut had an RPI of 147. Clearly this loss to Pacific could be much more damaging to the league. How disappointing.

Re: 11/22 A-10 Games (Happy Thanksgiving!)
That would be a good argument if Xavier was expected to be one of the top teams in the league this year. But they're not. I guess it was silly of us to expect more of La Salle this year. Hopefully the CCSU loss was an aberration.
