Some have virtually no atmosphere. Attendance, hey, why bother. Remember when the games were for the campuses/students. Money grab? Scheduling malaise? Vacations? other???

It's not a money grab, there's little money in them. For A10 programs it's about exposure, chance to get up to 3 games against good competition, and the idea of testing your team.

With so many tourneys on ESPN and now NBC sports, that's three days of exposure. It's also a good three part early exam for your team. You probably learn more about yourself in these three days than the rest of your OOC slate combined.

I love that Dayton has made exempt tourneys a yearly thing.Maui next year, then I think return trips to Puerto Rico and Orlando, then the Christmas tourney in Hawaii.

Given the amount of butts they will put in seats, and being top 10 hoops market, Dayton will always have spots in these events. I hope they go every year.

They are made for tv events. A-10 teams need them for exposure and for the chance to play BCS teams away from their own home court getting a better chance at a win.
