Re: Explorers Top Philly Big 5 Rival in Overtime

This was a big win for LaSalle and a great contribution by LaSalle to the league's success, but the following scares the hell out of me, regarding LaSalle:

Coach John Giannini was very fortunate to escape with the win. The Explorers lacked discipline during key stretches in the first half when they could have pushed the lead to double digits and in the second half when they allowed Villanova to go up by double-digits through very undisciplined play especially on the offensive end. Ramon needs to play much more under control as he nearly cost the team today. Coaching Grade: C

Regardless of what LaSalle pulls off in recruiting, given its program circumstances, coaching seems to be the area holds it back and will continue to do so. People can learn, including a man that holds a doctoral degree, but he's been there long enough now to have improved in this regard, yet, even with this game, we see commentary by the LaSalle faithful that the problem continues.

Great win for LaSalle and the A-10.

Nova blows right now. Just a shell of its former self. So sad (sarcasm). Always nice when a10 teams win (and nova loses) but the win tells us nothing about LaSalle.

You do realize that this "commentary by the LaSalle faithful" that you quoted was by none other than Explorer Steve, right? That's the equivalent of using something from Bleacher Report as a source. No one is saying Giannini is a great coach, but he's nowhere near as bad as some people make him out to be. I'd say he did a pretty solid coaching job last year, taking a team predicted to finish 13th out of 14 teams and coming in tied for 5th.

I would "zip it"! X has its' own problems.

Funny how LaSalleFan tries to put down the analysis and me knowing that I didn't write it. He also then agrees with the analysis!
