Great guy. They should name the A10 Men's Basketball trophy after him.

He wasn't around long enough, but I like your idea. They should find some award that can be named in his honor. If Chaney, as one obvious example, isn't considered before Rick Majerus for the league trophy, I would be surprised.

RM will be missed. I always had a great deal of respect for him and always liked him. It would be nice to honor him in someway for the long-term.

R.I.P., Big Guy. Great coach. And, he had the Hawks' number.

No it should not.

My condolences to his family and those close to him. He was far too young to die.

Majerus however is not deserving of such an honor by the A-10. He did not coach in the league for very long and for most of his time in the A-10 he publicly complained about it. While he was a great coach and seems to have had many positive attributes, he also had several shortcomings which have been well documented. I therefore do not think the league should take the action you suggest.

I'll admit I wasn't the biggest Majerus fan, I guess some of the articles about the odd behavior influenced me. I am sorrowed for his passing, as he was also a very positive influence on a great many players of the years - and was one hell of a basketball coach. Good article from Bernie Miklasz:

Re: RIP Rick Majerus

Rick had some great quotes... one time after a game at the end of a press conference he said "Don't marry a beautiful woman, she will probably leave you. If you marry an ugly woman, she will also probably leave you but it won't matter!"

He told some other funny jokes (that can't be repeated here)after they turned off the microphones.
