Re: 12/5 A-10 Games
The box score looks ugly, and it was excruciating to endure, but I actually feel good about this Billikens win for 2 reasons...
1) SLU pulled out a tight game without Kwamain Mitchell 2) Jim Crews has finally come around to realize that Rob Loe is a massive defensive liability Jordair Jett took a major step forward on the offensive end, consistently hitting jumpers and scoring the go ahead layup with 35 seconds left that put SLU up for good. Rob Loe has regressed to the point that when Corey Remekun fouled out with less than a minute to play, Crews substituted Jake Barnett alongside McCall, Jett, Evans, and Ellis. This was Loe's worst game in what's been a dreadful season. He missed every shot (the misses got progressively worse as the game went on), and defensively he's playing in slow motion and is a seemingly a horrible matchup against every team we play. |

Re: 12/5 A-10 Games
How good is Weber State?
Alabama is too good to roll over on their home floor. You knew they would make a run late. Dayton certainly aided them a couple of times. Great win for Dayton. No one will confuse Alabama with an elite team, but to go on the road for the first time this season and beat a quality team is no small feat. This is the team we hoped to see. Kevin Dillard was spectacular. Had every Bama eyeball watching his every move, and played nearly flawlessly through a ton of physical play. The A10 should just give him the POW award tomorrow. Dayton whupped Alabama in the run of play. Played better defense, were crisper on offense, and played smart basketball. They met Bama's intensity from the opening tip and never let up. Free throw attempted disparity is the only thing that kept the game respectable. Bama was as physical as you will see a basketball team be, and Dayton never once backed down. Impressive performance. Probably the most impressed I have been with a game away from UD Arena since the win over WVU in the NCAAs. My public school math is what it is, but I count 7 straight wins over the SEC for Dayton. I like that.

Re: 12/5 A-10 Games
Until we change our logotype, I'm not going to be happy. It looks dated and cheesy. Dayton needs to reach into the past and get something a little more classic looking. I do like our red and blue jerseys aside from that. They are really bright and bold without a lot of unnecessary ornamentation. Not a big fan of the blue shoulder things, though. Get rid of those.

Heck of a win for Charlotte too. Another contender. Tonight gives me renewed faith that UD can be a contender as well. But there can only be so many. |

Re: 12/5 A-10 Games
Trust me, nothing personal at all! I love the color scheme, just don't like the cartoon-looking logo.
A program with as much tradition and history as Dayton should have something less amateurish if you understand what I mean. I like how bold the colors are though, from a distance they look great and I thought they were really sharp. Just seeing the 'Dayton' up close turned me off to them afterwards. Alabama should be a good game. With Anthony Grant coming back to the Siegel Center, it should be a top-notch atmosphere. I remember when Jeff Capel came back with his #17 Oklahoma Sooners in 2009 and the place was rocking. VCU won by 13. Oklahoma ended up sucking that year, but it was fun to watch Capel shake his head at our atmosphere and hear him in the press conference after being away for awhile: I hope to hear a similar presser from AG after our game. Watching Alabama games nowadays is tough. I'm sure he sleeps just fine with his 1.8 million salary, but no one cares about his program in Tuscaloosa and it shows in the stands. That's tough to watch knowing how good Anthony is and how hard he works. He deserves better. Hopefully we can remind him of what an awesome home court advantage is like and show his team what real pressure full-court defense is like as well.
