A program with as much tradition and history as Dayton should have something less amateurish if you understand what I mean.

I like how bold the colors are though, from a distance they look great and I thought they were really sharp. Just seeing the 'Dayton' up close turned me off to them afterwards.

Alabama should be a good game. With Anthony Grant coming back to the Siegel Center, it should be a top-notch atmosphere. I remember when Jeff Capel came back with his #17 Oklahoma Sooners in 2009 and the place was rocking. VCU won by 13. Oklahoma ended up sucking that year, but it was fun to watch Capel shake his head at our atmosphere and hear him in the press conference after being away for awhile:

I hope to hear a similar presser from AG after our game.

Watching Alabama games nowadays is tough. I'm sure he sleeps just fine with his 1.8 million salary, but no one cares about his program in Tuscaloosa and it shows in the stands. That's tough to watch knowing how good Anthony is and how hard he works. He deserves better.

Hopefully we can remind him of what an awesome home court advantage is like and show his team what real pressure full-court defense is like as well.

I like our red uiforms as well. The logo needs a retro update to something more classic. I agree there. I liked our black (w/ a little red and blue mixed in) uniforms from a few years back too. I'm not sure if we wore them last year.

Not sure UDs defense was really that good. Bama just missed shots all night. Dayton didn't. We got career nights from two guys and thats why we won. Bama was also down a couple key cogs in their lineup.

That said, after tonight Grant is 47-10 (36-4 since 2010-2011) at home since coming to Alabama so they do not lose at home very often even in the rugged SEC.

Injuries or not, its still a commendable result by Dayton. As for the crowd, in the middle of the game there were quite a few fans in the stands. Im guessing 7,500. Boxscore says 11,460 which is probably generous. Coleman Coliseum holds 15,383 so its bigger than it looks (and it looks like a giant Boeing hangar).

Not sure how significant the injuries were. One was the starting center whose numbers were modest and only plays 12 minutes per game, and the other was to a reserve guard. Obviously, you would prefer to have all hands on deck, but they had their key pieces in starring roles - Releford, Lacey, Cooper.

I was happy with the second half clamp-down on defense by the Explorers. They held Penn State to just 23 second half points. Tyreek Duren just keeps getting better. I can't wait for Tyrone Garland to join the guard mix on December 15... the team will improve both offensively and defensively with Garland a much better option then DJ Peterson (who has limited offensive ability- good for a trey once in awhile).

82-57 with Duren getting 29 points. Galloway was hampered with foul trouble but still managed 14 points. Sam Mills also contributed with 14 points. Zack, Brown and Wright kept Penn State out of the paint for much of the game. Solid team effort.

Great day for the league! Thanks to all winning teams for getting the job done. Hopefully there will be two more BCS scalps after the 12/6 games.

The league is now +4 over my forecast, so we are winning some games we usually don't. Most of our teams are playing to their level or somewhat above. X, Dayton and Charlotte are above expectations. UMass is the only real disappointment.

Right now Temple, SJU, Dayton, X, Butler and VCU have built portfolios for an NCAA bid. LaSalle and Charlotte aren't very far behind but both need a signature win.

If the league can keep it up in the noncon sked, the A-10 will be in a great spot to get 5-6 bids.

Yeah, the gap was bound to close given Bama's need to gamble more and the hack-a-Flyer late. The natural tendencies of officials took over a bit, too. Alabama was allowed to do almost whatever they wanted for 25-30 minutes, and then magically, hand checks and grabs started being called. Refs are human. If given the chance, the calls will always trend back toward even as the game progress.

At one point in the second half Alabama had 22 FTA to Dayton's 9, and Dayton had a double digit lead. That was the only reason the margin was less than 20. Dayton was dominating the run of play.

Dayton wasn't particularly great from the line, they shot just above their average, and they shot worse down the stretch than in the first 35 minutes.
